That still makes him a natural born citizen. He’s a contender.
The thing that truly beams through the cameras is an authentic humility.
Kindness and strength, and a LOT of each.
Great Speech thank you for the link.
I understand (from all the discussion about Obama’s eligibility) that, for presidential eligibility, its not enough to be born in the U.S.A., your parents must be U.S. citizens at the time. Which, of course, immediately eliminates Obama!
Great speech and no teleprompter needed.
Thank you, I watched the whole speech. It was VERY well done.
Good luck to M. Rubio, and as he asked, my prayers are with him and his family.
I'm nearly certain that he used a mini teleprompter on the lectern right in front of him. The telltale hint is that during the main speech, he rarely, if ever, addressed the audience directly in front of him, which would have forced him to look down to read the lines. By sweeping his head from side to side, but only posing for the extremes, he was able read without looking like he is reading.
(And by now you've heard here that Rubio was born in Miami.)
Very similar to JFK but better and without that freaky accent. Palin said Rubio was impressive. He sure is.
That sounds good.
Now, this is interesting because Marco Rubio has lived it. His father wasn't born here. Marco Rubio didn't read about it in a book, as he said. He does not have to wonder what the people who paid the price had to go through. You know, of all the things, I love that particular bite. He "grew up largely in a society where what you were going to be when you grew up was decided for you like almost every other place in the world." Here is a short explanation of American exceptionalism. "This is like almost every other place in the world. Think about what that means. It means that before you are even born, how far you were gonna go in life is decided for you by who your parents are or are not." It's true, in part, in this country. The Kennedys are a great example. But it's not true for everybody. You don't need special circumstances to get anywhere in this country. You do everywhere else.
Emphasis added.
No, that's not true. You just have to be born here, or born subject to U.S. jurisdiction (like on an overseas U.S. base, or whatnot).
Thanks. I listen to a very old Walkman at work. Sometimes it’s a bit fuzzy :)
Good deaal! My mom voted for him. I expect my 3 brothers voted for him, but have not checked. I could give up the dry Colorado environment and put up with the oppressive Florida humidity again just to vote for him.
I really like this guy, he’s authentic and passionate without being preachy. Hopefully he will not become jaded and corrupt like so many have once they get to Washington.
LOL. You must have never seen Reagan. Rubio is a piker by comparison.
Both parents have to be citizens unless you’re a Democrat.
Well, based on the legal definition of "natural born" that I learned about on FR, he is not eligible for the Presidency. Neither is Obama, of course, but no courts will hear the case. I bet if he runs, the Dems will get tons of courts to decide that issue.
