I am a Syracuse alum who gradated in the late 80’s and the political correctness was horrible then. Syracuse University is LOADED with downstate and NYC liberal Jews who worship at the alter of Marxism. Questioning these folks about their political beliefs is immediately warped into an anti-Semitic attack on their character. Furthermore, there was a very militant black lefty group on campus, who constantly stage protest about anything they perceived as racism at Syracuse.
My college roommate and very good friend to this day was a downstate -—Rockland County—Jew who along with several of our good black friends, were also quite disturbed by the antics of these folks. It was a minority of the campus population making the most noise and I know for a fact that many of these radicals stayed at SU and moved into positions of power throughout the University.
I root for my OrangeMEN but not a dime will ever go to the University.
I just read your post aloud to my husband, who graduated undergrad SU 1977 and SU law school in 1983, and his response was “that guy could be me!” My son is a freshman in the SU School of Information Sciences this year. The menfolk in my family are rabid OrangeMEN fans, but the fundraisers stopped calling our house for cash after listening to umpteen harangues by xshub about why he would never give them a dime.
