Question for California FReepers
vanity | October 28, 2010 | James Noble

Posted on 10/28/2010 6:03:24 PM PDT by Jim Noble

I have a serious question. California is in desperate straits. Your budget is out of control. Your government gives me directives about personal hygiene when I check into a hotel. I can't walk around in San Francisco without being accosted or worse by criminals (and, I was born, raised, and lived in Brooklyn NY in the worst Beame years).

Now, everybody in California knows this. Liberals can't walk around SF either. They can add, and they can read, and they know the state is bankrupt with no way out.

How then is it even possible for Jerry Brown and Barbara Boxer to be re-elected?

Help!

In the last couple of days, there was a comprehensive set of recommendations on the California ballot measures and candidates. I couldn't read it at the time and I can't find it.

Any other Californians have a link?

Not all of California is rabidly liberal, but the most densly populated areas like the bay area where I live is. Environmentalism is a big factor. Our school system has some of the worst results in the nation, and voter’s (mis)understanding of issues is, I believe, a product of that education. Public Employees Unions run this government and our schools.

Because they have a D after their names. There aren’t enough of us conservatives to counter the vote by rote commies.

I’m from MA so i understand this question but i really have no answer as well.
As far as i can tell from my moonbat aquaitances is that even though things are bad now it would be 10 times worse if an evil republican was in charge.
The question also Reminds me of the reason why american jews vote dem.
Truly Bizarre.

Tons of limousine liberals in CA. One example is some women at work who was loaded. I always heard her talk about her horses and she had a huge diamond ring but she would also rattle on and on about how pro-choice she is. If Jerry Brown said he would double the income tax she would not care, a few more thousand bucks in taxes would not crimp her style, because he is pro-abortion.

Look at the demographics.
Geographically, much of the state is conservative (e.g. the Central Valley, Orange county, etc.).

However, California has two massive urban areas: Greater Los Angeles (which someone once called “seven cities in search of an identity”), and the San Francisco-San Jose mega-mess.

As in many large urban places, these areas have high densities of liberal-minded people (in other words, “the government should take care of me” mindset).

The many conservatives here don’t like this situation, but there isn’t much we can do except keep trying to hold the fort by supporting conservative candidates.

I ask the same thing of Oregonians who are determined to re-elect John Kitzhaber.

It’s inexplicable.

yeesh!

California is much more conservative than you might think.

This is the electoral map from  2000 for Bush.

If you remove the population centers of the LA/SF areas, the state is pretty solidly Red.

We have the inland, the libs own the coastline.

Sadly, the coastline is where the majority of the population and the media centers are.  These media centers promote the most extreme view of the left as "normal".

In truth, the fact that we are broke and about to go bankrupt has been studiously avoided by those same media centers with the attention instead being paid to things like 23 dollar an hour illegal immigrants "rights" being violated.

The target audience eats it up wholesale.

If Jerry Brown is elected we are doomed.

I predict bankruptcy within 2 years.

It will however be reported as the fault of Bush, the greedy "rich", Aaaaaanold, the Republican minority or, my personal favorite, "voters".

It's a wonder we aren't bankrupt already.

Cheers,

Vote fraud.

We The People vote one way. The Democrat Machine votes another way.

Illegal aliens who don't care about California's woes vote Democrat, aided by the Machine to keep them in power.

The poll question was: Do you think the State of California is going in the right direction?

Answer:

8% yes - because they are getting enough from the State.

47 % no - because they are NOT getting enough from the State.

40% no - because the State is taking too much from them.

Final Answer: 8% - Yes 92% - NO

That is how we get Gov Moonbeam

I got my first clue there was something wrong in California in 1991. I was stationed in SoCal when I was in the Navy. I lived in a relatively nice apartment complex and had a number of nice neighbors that I spent time with.

Every last one of them were planning on voting for Clinton. They did not want to discuss policy, merit or even flat out moral depravity. Basically they took pleasure in voting for democrats and a perverse pleasure in voting for obviously bad democrat candidates.

Demographics. White are in the minority as of several years ago.

Stupid answer. You live here and are a voter. All CA voters are “stupid”. You just called yourself stupid.

Smarten up!

“Because the California GOP is infested with and run by RINO Elites like Meg Whitman and Arnold and Pete Wilson who are nothing less than Liberals in Sheep’s clothing on just about every issue.”

Arnold and Wilson got elected (and Reagan, Deukmejian); Simon, McClintock and others more conservative did not.

So your sentence does not respond to the issue, which is: why does CA elect democrats?

Simple. The majority of voters are moochers. Mooching is easy. All you have to do is put your hand out. When out of bucks, simply raise the tax rate. That way those eeeevil rich mf's will pay their due and we can once more proceed with the mooch.

The majoritry really like the status quo, why else would they support it?

The moochees need to say enough!, and not pay another cent. That is the only way to reverse this pile of bull excrement.

Seriously. It’s because most of these ass clowns think the state govt is not left wing enough. The bad economy is just simply blamed on Bush. Absolutely no blame is assigned to the high tax, high regulation anti-business leftists they continually vote for. CA voters are, for the most part, utterly incapable of figuring these simple things out, which is ironic given how highly educated they claim they are.

This wasn’t the fault of out of staters, most of these folks were in their 20’s and 30’s, born and raised in the area. The only people I met that weren’t voting for Clinton were from out of state like me.

My wife is a native Californian. We would both like to move back, but there is no way I would move my business there now.
