Democrats poised for historic losses in Mid-Term.
With less than a week left until the 2010 mid-term elections the polls are continuing paint a dismal picture for Democratic candidates and incumbents.
In general the races tighten as elections draw closer but that does not seem to be the case at least in the House or Representatives.
The Real Clear Politics average of polls shows 225 seats as leaning or likely Republican, 178 leaning or likely Democrat and 32 as toss ups. That would mean even if the Democrats pick up all 32 toss up seats, something that seems unlikely at best, the Republicans will gain control of the House.
The Generic Congressional Vote shows similarly disappointing news for the Democrats with only one poll, Newsweek, showing a positive for Democrats:
RCP Average 10/11 10/24 48.9 42.0 Republicans +6.9 Rasmussen Reports 10/18 10/24 3500 LV 49 40 Republicans +9 Gallup (LV Lower Turnout)* 10/14 10/24 1989 LV 55 41 Republicans +14 Gallup (LV Higher Turnout)* 10/14 10/24 1989 LV 52 43 Republicans +9 Newsweek 10/20 10/21 773 LV 45 48 Democrats +3 Politico/GWU/Battleground 10/17 10/20 1000 LV 47 42 Republicans +5 Pew Research 10/13 10/18 1354 LV 50 40 Republicans +10 Associated Press/GfK 10/13 10/18 846 LV 50 43 Republicans +7 FOX News 10/11 10/13 687 LV 48 39 Republicans +9
