This is more of a crushing blow to Katie than is suggested in the article. Remember that she started as the “perky” human interest reporter on a morning show. That position used to be characterized as a slot for a pretty “girl” who did light human interest stories before that characterization was viewed sexist. Katie has always tried to get away from that image and with her new CBS gig, she thought she finally had. And yet, it didn't work and now she is resigned to go back to being the perky human interest girl on the news shows, albeit a little longer in the tooth.
