Last week I spied a short piece at Illinois Review about a post on My Suburban Life that detailed the story of a left-wing teacher that was shocked that a majority of her students in DuPage County, Illinois voted for Republican Representative Peter Roskam in the school's mock election.
Social studies teacher Lori Keough of Glenbard High School found herself flummoxed that her students voted for every Democrat on the fake ballot but Representative Roskam, a Republican. Glenbard High is situated in Roskam's 6th legislative district.
Students picked Republican Peter Roskam for the 6th district, with 52 percent of the vote, compared to Democrat Benjamin Lowe, who brought in 44 percent. For the other elections, students mainly voted for Democrats. You just have to laugh at this blinkered assumption that left-wing teacher Keough had here. So the kids didn't make decisions just "going with what their parents think" but agreed with her that all Democrats should be elected and as far as she is concerned her indoctrination of students is evidence of students "learning on their own" but if kids went with their parent's ideas, why they are not "learning on their own."...Social studies teacher Lori Keough was surprised by yesterdays results.
Just because DuPage County is so Republican, I was shocked that Democrats won every single race except for Roskam, she said. It shows in general that students are learning on their own and making decisions on their own and not going with what their parents think.
It’s a shame you didn’t post the rest, it’s not bad.
Hey, why the excerpt? You could just post the whole content here at FR y’know. Are you looking for blog hits?
The goal, of course, is to create little liberal voters who, voting socialist, will guarantee the rest of us continue to pay thru the nose so those same teachers can retire with their very comfortable benefit packages.
Its educational FRAUD perpetrated on the young and its got to stop.
I live in LA where children are at a very early age immersed in Left-wing propaganda by the Marxist teachers unions. When my daughter told her school teacher that her parents voted for John McCain, the teacher scoffed and said, “that’s because your parent’s are white.” True story.
BTW we tried Catholic schools as well. Not much better in LA. Several years ago in 2008, I attended my daughter’s Christmas carols at her then Catholic school. During the announcements, the school principal proudly announced that BHO had overwhelmingly won the school’s mock presidential election to the hardy applause of the audience. I couldn’t believe I was sitting inside a Catholic school.
We withdrew our daughter wihin weeks from that school.
That teacher must have blown a gasket!! LOL. Good for you for pulling your kid out of the let-wing indoctrination center.
I’ve been very careful with my kids on this issue, purposely tried not to bias them against Obama in the last election. I try to generally teach them right or wrong and let them decide. When asked questions I tried hard to be very factual and neutral. I was quite proud when I found out my oldest disliked Obama even more than I did. It was her decision not to watch Obama’s school speech when we told her it was absolutely her choice. She preferred to be stuck in a room with a few other kids doing busy work rather than veg out in front of the TV with Obama on it.
I think this shows that kids can easily vote against Democrats without indoctrination. The biggest thing: they know stealing and racism are wrong. They’ll make the right decision unless they are indoctrinated to think institutional stealing and racism equal “fairness.”
Barack Obama was visiting a primary school and he visited one of the
classes. They were in the middle of a discussion related to words and
their meanings. The teacher asked the President if he would like to lead
the discussion on the word ‘tragedy’.
So our illustrious President asked the class for an example of a
‘tragedy’.
One little boy stood up and offered: “If my best friend, who lives on a
farm, is playing in the field and a tractor runs over him and kills him,
that would be a tragedy..”
“No,’ said Obama, ‘that would be an accident.”
A little girl raised her hand: “If a school bus carrying 50 children
drove over a cliff, killing everyone inside, that would be a tragedy.”
“I’m afraid not,’ explained Obama. ‘That’s what we would call a great
loss.”
The room went silent. No other children volunteered. Obama searched the
room. “Isn’t there someone here who can give me an example of a
tragedy?”
Finally, at the back of the room, Little Johnny raised his hand. In a
quiet voice he said: “If the plane carrying you and Mrs. Obama was
struck by a ‘friendly fire’ missile and blown to smithereens, that would
be a tragedy.”
“Fantastic!’ exclaimed Obama.. ‘That’s right. And can you tell me why
that would be a tragedy?”
“Well,’ says Johnny, ‘It has to be a tragedy, because it sure as heck
wouldn’t be a great loss... and you can bet your last buck it’s probably not
an accident either.”
Ha, always a good joke. Thanks for reminding me of it.
Good for you. L.A. schools very bad - I lived there with a young stepson. I tgot his parents to take him out of the progressive sandbox of a school they had him in and put him into the Lycee Francais. It was the only one with any academic rigor.
Re your daughter, have you tried Marymount?
No. We pulled her out of the socialist Catholic school and put her into a socialist public school. We are teaching her many things ourselves.
Some people claim I’m brainwashing my daughter. I keep saying back to them: Better me than her Marxist school teachers. If she is going to learn about socialism, better in a public school than a Catholic church.
