In the most predictable act in an otherwise completely unpredictable election cycle, the liberal editors of Louisville's The Courier-Journal (CJ) newspaper have decided to "enthusiastically endorse" (to use their words) Jack Conway for election to the U.S. Senate. Conway is running against Republican candidate Dr. Rand Paul for the Senate seat currently held by the retiring Jim Bunning.
The CJ editors concluded their enthusiastic endorsement for Conway with these closing statements:
"Kentuckians should not gamble on a candidate far out of the political mainstream. The should send Mr. Conway to the Senate."
From those statements it is clear that the CJ editors have either been completely negligent or willfully ignorant in assessing the mood and themes that are dominating this election cycle. Otherwise they would know that this election cycle is much more one about anti-incumbency than it is about protecting members of the political mainstream.

The Kentucky (Cincinnati) Enquirer endorsed Rand Paul this morning.
English majors trying to change the world. If they would just read the Complete Works of William Shakespeare, they would accomplish something. They probably read Cliff Notes and comic books instead.
Tjhey don’t deserve a readership.
Jim Bunning wouldn’t talk to the C/J. That’s the only way for a Republican to deal with them. Gov Rick Perry of Texas refuses to talk to any newspaper. The time for newspapers to sway elections are over.
Who reads or even buys the Courious Urinal?
Most of the smaller papers around here stick a finger in the air to see test the prevailing winds as to whether a candidate is likely to get trounced at the voting booths before making their endorsement. It’s become rare to see an endorsement for someone who’s almost certain to be defeated.
And the best part, the big papers have now become smaller papers, and they too are now tending to play it safe, tending to endorse winners rather than the “progressive” candidates that they normally would prefer.
On my last birthday, my wife gave me the best present ever; she cancelled our subscription to the Communist Journal
