In a remarkable video from the folks at Grass Roots North Carolina, 2nd Amendment Civil Rights Attorney Alan Gura outlines his experience with cases before the Supreme Court and details the missteps the NRA has made with their approach to 2nd Amendment Litigation.

Primarily, the NRA seems unable to distinguish between legislative lobby tactics and judicial litigation tactics with disastrous outcomes possible from the confusion.

I appreciate Alan Gura’s efforts. But listening to him argue for McDonald in McDonald v. Chicago was painful:

I believe Scalia asked him several times if he was seriously arguing for overturning 150 years of legal precedent under Slaughterhouse. I know it wasn’t popular around here when the NRA got their 15 minutes with Paul Clement, but if you listen to the audio, it’s for the best.

Also, listening to Chicago’s lawyer get destroyed (the final 30 minutes) is great.

That was a battle fought and lost in the 1950's.

It is frightening to consider a duck or goose hunter could be hauled off to some International Venue (Geneva?) to answer allegations of some Migratory Bird Treaty violation.

One of those wicked John Birch Types tried to limit International Treaty Violations to Constitutional Standards.

Most people do not understand the endgame in play then or now.
