The Cleveland-based Progressive Insurance Corporation Chairman Peter Lewis is one of the major contributors to leftist causes in the United States. Progressive became the third-largest automobile insurer in the country by providing high-risk car insurance to people other companies would not insure. Currently, the companys ads feature an obnoxious and rather disturbing brunette named Flo who dresses all in white and wears bright-red lipstick.
Lewis, whom Forbes magazine estimated his worth at $1.1 billion, was the former CEO of daddys company. In 2004, Lewis was the second leading contributor to 527 groups, donating $16 million to the Joint Victory Campaign and $2.5 million to Move On.Org. He also contributed $2.9 million to America Coming Together, a 527 organization that he and George Soros put together to defeat George W. Bush in the 2004 presidential election. Byron York from CBS News explains:
"Although Democrats often maintain that their unprecedented outside-the-party campaign against President Bush was a broad-based, grassroots effort, it was, in fact dependent in substantial part on just five donors: financier George Soros, Progressive Insurance chairman Peter Lewis, Hollywood mogul Stephen Bing, and the California investors Herbert and Marion Sandler. Together, they spent about $78 million in the effort to defeat the president "
Since the early 1970s, Lewis has been involved with the Democrat Party, working as the Ohio finance chairman for George McGoverns 1972 presidential campaign in part because of his hatred for Richard Nixon. In 2004, Lewis said that he had given away $250 million during his lifetime. Both he and Soros have been heavy contributors in a campaign to legalize marijuana, pushing the notion that it has medicinal benefits.
The self-described half screwball, half businessman, who once went to a Cleveland City Council meeting with its president wearing a Lone Ranger outfit, has reportedly given tens of millions of dollars to leftist groups including the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), the Center For American Progress, MoveOn.org, and America Coming Together.
Along with fellow traveler Soros, Lewis bankrolls a progressive movement that is out to destroy Americas economy and free enterprise system. He discreetly directs millions of dollars to leftist groups such as Democracy Alliance and Media Matters to promote Democrat Party candidates. In February 2008, Lewis donated money to Barack Obamas presidential campaign, and is considered one of the five people most responsible for Obamas meteoric rise to power.
In addition, he belongs to and has donated tens of millions of dollars to the ACLU, which works tirelessly to tear down Americas Judeo-Christian heritage by:
* Removing nativity scenes from public property, and forcing Christmas trees to be named Holiday trees when displayed on public property. * Banning Christmas trees and songs such as Silent Night from public schools. * Renaming Christmas break Winter break. * Suing cities for sponsoring Christmas parades. * Forcing states to legalize homosexual marriage. * Forcing libraries to remove porn filters from their computers. * Suing the Boy Scouts for not accepting homosexuals as scout leaders. * Helping legalize child pornography. * Legalizing live sex acts in bars in Oregon. * Protecting the North American Man Boy Love Association (NAMBLA), a pedophile/pederasty organization that advocates adult sexual contact with children. * Censoring student led prayer at graduation. * Removing under God from the Pledge of Allegiance and In God We Trust on currency.
Lewis willingness to bankroll progressive Democrats while filling his pockets in the process brings to mind Armand Hammer, the former head of Occidental Petroleum and business associate and friend to Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin, who lavishly sponsored Al Gore Sr.s and Jr.s political careers.
Its time conservative policy holders of Progressive Insurance realize that they are enabling Peter Lewis to advance the ACLUs war on Christmas and the progressive agenda that is destroying America. Theres no need to wonder anymore why the companys named progressive.

Good find....those Progressive insurance commercials have been creeping me out since they first went on the air. I would never buy anything that calls itself “Progressive”, but now I know why Flo raises the hair on the back of my neck with that condescending voice of hers...
I love USAA, but with Progressive, they goofed!
Isn’t this the same guy who got busted for smuggling cocaine a few years back? ( http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/HL0008/S00166.htm
Progressive Cars are everywhere in the Ozarks. Its as if they just suddenly appeared from nowhere. Not sure of their rates/pay structure, but it must be good as they seem to have expanded in a major way.
Meeee either!!!!!
Mike
Very good article, thanks for posting. HOORAY Jerry A. Kane!
In addition to all of the other items listed, the “Progressive” commercials are also an attack on man. Look at the not-so-subtle outrageous representation of men in these commercials.
Cash box, ballot box. Vote with both.
I actually met Peter Lewis on a couple of occasions.
A very unique character to say the least.
Progressive Insurance is one of the top advertisers for Fox News Channel, along with GEICO.

I believe it!
I switched long ago when I learned about Progressive’s Progressive tilt. Besides, Geico has much better commercials!
Wow.. I didn’t realize this. I have 4 cars and 2 motorcycles on Progressive Insurance. I need to take a look at other options. esurance looks to be liberal/green to me as well. Anyone know about Geico and where they fall?
Geico has better commercials, but aren’t they a lib establishment as well?
I thought Geico stood for Goverment Employee Insurance Co.
I could be wrong, but I’ve always heard they spend major bucks on the dems.
