I will never have children. Its bad enough knowing that most children will suffer horribly and have no hope. To then have to worry about your own is unbearable.
I don't intend my comment to be disrespectful or mean in any way - but yes, if that is your principle thought when considering whether or not to have them, DO NOT HAVE THEM.
"most children will suffer horribly and have no hope"? In the most pessimistic sense, that may be true for children outside of your influence - but if you believe that about children that are WITHIN your sphere of influence, you are not doing enough to provide that hope.

I think it is 100% impossible to protect your own children. Anyone who thinks otherwise is fooling themselves.
I remember the story of a soldier who went on tour in Iraq. He came back to discover that his 3 year old daughter was brutally murdered by relatives who seemed trustworthy to him. Was it his fault?
