"...Boeing said deductibles and copayments are going up significantly for some 90,000 nonunion workers."
In large part because they can't change the deductibles and copayments for union lay-abouts. The difference will be made up for by increasing nonunion workers' costs to cover both.

"The company cited three major reasons for the cost shift, including untamed health care inflation, the effects of the new law, and lifestyle issues including being overweight and lack of exercise. (snip) ...Boeing is concerned that its relatively generous plan will get hit with a new tax under the law in 2018, but that the company would have made the changes anyway.
The last part is accurate - and nonunion retiree health benefits will come next.

(Been there. Done that.)

Anyone know if it is legal for an employer to ‘request’ that it’s employees (including those not covered by the company health plan) participate in establishing individual base lines by participating in biometric screening and a health risk assessment?

Apparently, some employers are ‘requesting’ this because they are blaming the premium increase on the employees lack of willingness/successful participation in ‘wellness’ programs, including accusations of any continued use of tobacco and poor vending machine choices, about all of which they plan to affect new ‘policies’ and ‘initiatives’ after the first of the year.

I guess the employers can do whatever they damn well please...if you’re not the ideal height/weight, you’re screwed?
