I have lived in Missouri since 1998; a vagabond and California native. After leaving my home town in Contra Costa County in February 1972 for the US Air Force I didn’t return until 1978. When I did return I noticed the changes to my home town of Pittsburg. The population explosion, the tract home explosion, the traffic explosion and the like. It was a change I didn’t like and I stayed a matter of only two years before returning to the Midwest.
The Midwest offered opportunities and open space, clean air and open skies. (Yeah, the winters were a bitch, but they were a challenge to the softened lifestyle I had become accustomed to as a native Californian.)
Now, after all those years I still miss the mild climate and dense winter fogs of the Delta Region but I don’t miss the permeation of liberalism that infected my schools, colleges, and universities. To those of you still holding-on to the Cali lifestyle and wishing that things will improve I say GOOD LUCK ! Another term with Jerry Brown as Governor will be the stamp of doom on the Golden State. Sad. I had hoped to come home at least to die. Perhaps that wouldn’t be a good idea either. Floating my ashes down the Delta’s byways is probably illegal.
There should be no bailout of California period whether Brown or Whitman is elected. Unfortunately, if Brown is elected we will likely see the state declare bankruptcy within a year and Obama use the emergency powers granted by TARP to bail the state out.
