New al Qaeda mag using popular email services
Posted on October 17, 2010 by creeping
Like al Qaeda in the past, producers of the al Qaeda magazine American Muslims who promote jihad literally detailing ways to kill Americans are using popular email services from American technology companies.
Isnt it against the law to provide services to terrorist organizations?
Presumably the CIA is monitoring this email addresses and encryption key below but like Googles Youtube, must we make it this easy for Islamic terrorists and wannabe, potential, and soon-to-be jihadists to communicate and facilitate killing of American citizens?

“TAIMOUR AL-ABDALY AKA TAIMOUR ABDUL WAHAB [REDACTED]”
SNIPPET: “The concern at the moment is that Taimour did not act alone when he attacked Stockholm two nights ago.”
SNIPPET: “One thing I ask when someone like Taimour turns up is “what is his connection, if any, to Samir Khan?” I ask this not so much because of Samir’s significance in his own right, but because he is very well connected to the global community of jihadis, and frankly because I spent a ridiculous amount of time mapping out his social network using both open and not-so-open sources, and would like to get some return on that investment.
Samir is three degrees of separation from Taimour. It looks like this:”

“Wall Street Warned of al-Qaida Threat”
by IPT News Feb 1, 2011 at 12:34 pm
SNIPPET: “Officials at Goldman Sachs, Citibank, JP Morgan Chase, Barclays and other institutions received briefings last month from the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force, the report said. There don’t seem to be specific threats, but officials have noted references to Wall Street in the al-Qaida affiliate’s magazine, Inspire.
In a separate online posting, an al-Qaida blogger named Abu Suleiman Al-Nasser urged Muslims to rush “to targeting financial sites and the program sites of financial institutions, stock markets and money markets.””

SNIPPET: “A recent issue of Inspire magazine, published by al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), provides tips for American Muslims on the use of chemical and chemical and biological weapons. Inspire contributor Yahya Ibrahim discussed the subject in an article entitled “The Ultimate Mowing Machine,” a primer on innovative ways to “Mow Down the Enemies of Allah.”
“America is a terrorist state and Americans are complacent [sic] in some of the worst forms of terrorism our Muslim nation has been subjected to,” Ibrahim writes. “Millions of Muslim lives have been lost to American brutality. It is about time Muslims wake up and pay back America what is due to it.”
The article is part of a section of the magazine called “Open Source Jihad,” which gives readers ideas on ways to carry out terrorist attacks.”

“BINYAMINE: A “BRIDGING WEAK TIE””
SNIPPET: “binyamine, on the other hand, appears to be alive and well, though websites closely associated with him are encountering some difficulties (e.g. the Deen al-Haq forum, the ssjr05.* blog, and the murabiteen forum, to name three).
An examination of online activities by binyamine leads to the conclusion that he is likely involved with Dar al-Murabiteen, and that he links multiple terrorist networks together through his work translating, transcribing, and distributing jihadi media content. He is linked, in no particular order, to
Anwar al-Awlaki and Samir Khan
The Pakistan and Afghan Taliban
as-Sahab, al-Emara, and al-Malahem media outfits
al-Shabaab and their al-Qimmah forum
This is what Granovetter meant by a bridging weak tie - the kind of “weak” tie that is strong, as he links multiple networks. Among other things, all this helps explain why Samir Khan looks to Dar al-Murabiteen for translations when he’s assembling content for Inspire Magazine.
What follows is a sample of the the data I’ve collected that document binyamine’s activities, his connections, his aliases, and his associations.”

SNIPPET: “I think that my previous post discussing this idea of norm entrepreneurship continues to hold up. AQAP isnt just trying to teach you about how to use AKs, they are trying to convince you that it is possible whatever it is for you. If it means contributing to a forum, then go you. If it is doing a lone wolf attack, they implore you. If it means hopping on a plane to join up in Yemen, then yes you can.”

New Issue of Inspire Magazine
Al Qaeda of the Arabian Peninsula has come out with the 5th issue of its Inspire Magazine. Its got some more of the same the wheres and whens of attacking American targets, etc. But interestingly, the issue lays out the case for why Al Qaeda supports the Arab revolutions, leveling the arguments of those who say that the group doesnt benefit from the general upheaval. It also shows how Al Qaeda sees itself as continuing the jihad begun by the Muslim Brotherhood, but dropped when the MB became interested in elections.
