It's a long shot to expect that any D senators will vote to convict.But there is a possible recourse in Article V - a constitutional convention. That can be done with a simple majority in the legislatures of 34 states and a simple majority in Congress.
An amendment, if required, could do anything up to and including installing a named caretaker POTUS and VPOTUS.It would be a terrible testament to a political party to have that be it's president's legacy . . .If the states were to credibly threaten to call such a convention, maybe that would persuade Democrat senators to abandon ship.
