The Illinois race is classified as a toss up in the Rasmussen Senate balance of power counts, with the race being within the margin of error, and classified as 1 of 4 the GOP needs to win to take control of the Senate according to Dick Morris and Ramussen oth. We need 2 of the following 4 to take control of the Senate along with the other races the GOP is likely to win elsewhere: California, Illinois, Nevada, Washington. See for yourself: http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/elections/election_2010/election_2010_senate_elections/election_2010_senate_balance_of_power.
California is probably not going to be a GOP win. Washington is highly uncertain. Nevada is a definite possibility. That means we need Illinois as the 2nd toss up seat we need to take for the GOP to send the Dems packing out of the majority. Even if it appears Rossi can win in Washington which is really uncertain at this point, I'd like Illinois as an insurance policy.
I respect your right to vote as you please, but you should consider that race in Illinois is going to be an "Every vote counts election," especially since if it's close you can bet the Dems will pull out all the stops on recounts and mystery ballot boxes suddenly turning up to help put the Dem over the top. They'll use the courts and every shennanigan imaginable to steal the race from Kirk in a close result. Think Al Franken and Minnesota.
Finally, if nothing else, just think of the satisfication and symbolic value of a Republican taking Barack Obama's former Senate seat. It will be a beautiful thing.
WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE !!!! Pyrrhic victory ! The fact you believe a Kirk “victory” is a blow to Emperor Zero is what’s a real hoot. Having Gov. Brady appoint a NON-Combiner to the seat after Alexi is indicted is the blow to Zero. Too bad you don’t want that.
I agree with everything you said to me. That’s why I already considered voting for Kirk.
