You didn’t say what you’re hunting (dressing), but a four inch drop-point fixed blade will get you from deer to moose. I’ve used 3” Buck folders on deer with no problem. I prefer drop-point blade tips over clip-point knives because I believe they help avoid piercing organs while field dressing game. For dressing pheasant etc, I prefer a good pair of shears (heavy scissors) to a knife.

Schrade Sharp Finger is the best all around outdoors knife I’ve used when weight and size matter.
