This year, a company which took over sponsorship of the annual Richmond, Virginia, Christmas parade has ordered the city's organizers to change it to a "holiday" parade.
Dominion, an energy company operating in 12 states, has told the city it no longer wants to use "Christmas" as part of the parade name. Instead, Dominion said it will be known as the "Dominion Holiday Parade."
This attack on the traditional use of "Christmas" has been accepted by parade organizers, who buckled under the anti-Christmas insistence of the company.

It seems to me it’s the city of Richmond who is at fault here. If Dominion is funding the parade (and that’s the way I understand this, correct me if I’m wrong) then I don’t see where they’re in the wrong for asking for things their way — whether you agree with it or not. Richmond could have told them to blow smoke, but didn’t. It’s the city who “caved”.
Will the use “Ramadan”? or is that forbidden too?
What an outrage!
A private company writes a big check and expects to dictate what the event will be named.
How many actually clicked on the link and sent Dominion the email?
I’m sure the City of Richmond would take your check to fund the Parade and you could call it the Chistmas Parade.
IF YOU LOVE THIS COUNTRY as much as I DO, you will join me in fasting and praying for the United States of America. This November promises to be the death nail for this nation UNLESS God relents and rstores what satan has stolen and will continue to steal. PRAY and PRAY some more for God's mercy!!
Many leftists have unresolved childhood envy issues over the uneven distribution of Christmas gifts. Childish envy is what motivates modern leftism. They hate Christmas, and ban birthdays for their kids for similar reasons, for example the Obama family.
You know, there’s only one set of electric wires into my house, so it’s kind of hard to replace them.
I didn’t mention disconnecting; I said “supplier”, meaning that in a de-regulated world, the “supplier” can be any company that sells the “energy”; you are stuck with Dominion’s wires and wires’ charges, but NOT with them as the PRODUCER.
The organizers wanted to drop “Christmas” but the old sponsors wouldn’t let them.

“Dominion Foundation replaces longtime sponsor Ukrop’s Super Markets Inc., which co-sponsored the parade with Supervalu in 2009 and 2008.
Robert Kelly, president of Richmond Parade Inc., said the name change has been discussed for several years as a way to encourage more diverse participation, but Ukrop’s officials had insisted on keeping Christmas in the name.
Kelly said he expects some backlash but believes most people will recognize the parade simply is evolving with the times.
“We said it’s time to move forward and make our event more inclusive,” he said...”
Richmond is failure incorporated.
“Dominion Power does not speak for the people”
It speaks loudly in an Oligarchy, which is what we have become.
Does Virginia allow customers to choose their electric supplier? I don't mean the transmission and distribution portion of the power - that generally has to stay with the company that ownes them. I mean, can you choose who generates the electricity and who supplies the gas that you use?
Its the city who caved.
Absolutely correct!!!!
Voters should be going all out after the leadership of the city. Vote them out and generally give them a hard time until they cave.
I started my own personal crusade a few years ago. I buy stuff; I tell the cashier in a festive voice, Merry Christmas. If the cashier says happy holiday, I ask why. If they say it is corporate policy, I return whatever I bought then and there and ask for a manager to tell them why I am returning it. I have gotten a few “get a life” comments from other shoppers and lots of empty apologies from managers. It costs me a little time but I figure some of the silent shoppers who hear me might choose the same path.
Is Dominion Power going to outlaw Santa Clause? - no float for Santa??
- no Christmas songs, - no carols,
forget it??
