I enjoyed the series, 'cause I thought the subject of slavery, racial attitudes of the time, etc. belonged given the subject matter.

But it doesn't need to be the focus of EVERY other presentation of American history.

I watched about 5 minutes of The Story of US until I saw the Herny Gates was one of the commentators. I couldn't grab the reomte fast enough.

That is true, Gates was in it. So much for credibility. Going back to the CW, still my favorite part was when one entire episode was about General Sherman tearing it up through the South. If only Burns included his famous quote about reporters being part of the enemy and deserved to be shot.
