Viva La Revolucion: DUMP Steny Hoyer NOW
Reaganite Republican ^ | September 28, 2010 | Reaganite Republican

Dingy Harry sweating it in Nevada, Fwank fwustwated, and Boxer on the ropes... here's another statist aparatchik that needs to go-away... and now's the time:

The Dems seem to think House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer has nothing to worry about in Maryland's fifth congressional district, as do many other political observers... but the facts suggest otherwise (This interview should acquaint you well with Mr Hoyer and his positions).

Interestingly, Hoyer himself actually claimed the Democrats were "a party on the rise" just last week, mocking polls showing double-digit Republican leads on the generic congressional ballot.

What better way to bring some sorely-needed reality to this detached, blustering 71-yr-old pork-addict than by removing him from office?

And just wait until you meet the challenger: Marine intellegence officer/current USMC reservist Major Charles Lollar...

Republican Charles Lollar is a concerned citizen, taxpayer, hard working business executive, Major in the United States Marine Corps reserve, devoted father of four/husband and church-going Christian.

But is this another squishy, moderate RINO custom-fitted to bring a liberal district Obama-Lite?

Hardly... just check-out the platform (here), this guy is a genuine citizen-politician and principled Reaganite conservative through-and-through.

The NRCC is unlikely to show any courage in this race... but with a little help from his friends, can he ride the Big Red Wave and win this thing, toppling the #2 Democrat in the US House of Representatives?

According to blogger Stacy McCain -who interviewed Major Lollar this week- he sure as heck can: Democrats think Hoyer is bulletproof, but there are good reasons to believe that the incumbent is far more vulnerable this year than anyone suspects.

As I explained before the primary, GOP candidate Collins Bailey got 80,000 votes in 2008 — a high-tide year for Democrats when Obama carried the 5th District by a 2-to-1 margin. Democrat enthusiasm is way down this year, so their turnout is likely to be far lower. In 2006, a midterm election that was also a big year for Democrats, there were barely 200,000 votes cast in the 5th District race.

So if there is a similar turnout Nov. 2, and Lollar merely matches the GOP’s 80,000 total from 2008, that puts him at 40%. Add another 15,000 votes, and he’s in shocker-upset range.

Three weeks ago, I thought Lollar had a shot, based simply on analyzing the district and reading his biography: An up-through-the-ranks Marine intelligence officer — a major in the USMC Reserve. But after having lunch Friday with Lollar, I’m telling you flat-out: This guy’s a winner, if we can just get him the money to do it... If you are in a position to help Charles Lollar defeat Steny Hoyer, please at least hit his donation page for $20 today, as this one would sure be sweeet (Lollar for Congress official site here).

not gonna happen in Montgomery county Maryland, a combined bastion of sanctuary hellholes and rich white liberals

“Blacks” need to know their place, as in PG and Baltimore, not in the US House or Senate

Especially not oreo cookies, aka “CONSERVATIVE” blacks
right, Michael Steele?

Well, that’s the consensus for the most part, BUT...

YES WE CAN...?

This morning on CNBC’s “Squawkbox”, Rep. George Miller (D-CA) gave a most incredibly optimistic forecast of a Democrat victory in Nov. Either they have pre-stuffed ballot boxes across the country, or he is totally delusional. Conservatives should follow the Houston TEA Party model and volunteer to man the polling places, because they will try to steal this election.

Yeah, but the fact that he's black will cause a few heads to explode as they decide which lever to pull. The old white liberal guy or the black guy? (pop)

Too bad as this guy looks like a winner.

Dear kittymyrib,

This district isn’t in Montgomery Co. It comprises part of PG Co and most (all?) of southern MD. Mr. Hoyeris more liberal than his constituents, but has been masterful at bringing home the Defense bacon year in, year out.

Montgomery County is not in the 5th Congressional District. St. Mary's, Charles, Calvert, lower Anne Arundel, and part Prince George's counties make up the 5th district.

If something were to happen to Steny, the “defense bacon”, as you call it, would not go away. The Navy base at Pax River is too important. Home of the Test Pilot School, for one. It’s not going anywhere soon. Besides, Lollar is a Major in the Marine Corps Reserves. Who would think he couldn’t bring home the defense bacon?

There isn’t anything Hoyer is doing right now (except ignoring the will of his constituents) that couldn’t be accomplished by his opponent, Charles Lollar.

Dear BL1,

“If something were to happen to Steny, the ‘defense bacon’, as you call it, would not go away.”

I didn't say it would. At least not for a while. It's harder to move stuff once it's entrenched somewhere than it is to get it there in the first place.

“Besides, Lollar is a Major in the Marine Corps Reserves. Who would think he couldn’t bring home the defense bacon?”

Two different sets of skills. But who knows? I'm all for trying out the new guy, LOL.

I much prefer Mr. Lollar to Mr. Hoyer. I'm merely noting how Mr. Hoyer continued to win elections, even as his district became more conservative. But please note the use of past tense.

This looks like it will be a very bad year for Democrats. And Mr. Lollar is an attractive candidate. One can only hope.

Remember, my original point was that Mr. Hoyer's district is NOT in uber liberal Montgomery County, and that Mr. Hoyer's district is not as liberal as he is.

With all due respect - the “two different sets of skills” comment is an avoidance of my point. There’s no way Lollar would not have the best interests of his district at heart, as he is a military man & can see the importance of the military installations in his district. He would have no trouble with the defense issues because he would represent the will of his constituents and have that power behind him. THAT should be the only power a congressman has. (the power of his constituents)

Seeing Charles Lollar in person or going to his website and checking out his videos, one only has to watch him a few and they will see he is a man up to the job. If anyone can unseat Steny Hoyer, Charles Lollar can.

Dear BL1,

“With all due respect - the ‘two different sets of skills’ comment is an avoidance of my point.”

Then I misunderstood you, and your comment showed a misunderstanding of my own.

“There’s no way Lollar would not have the best interests of his district at heart, as he is a military man & can see the importance of the military installations in his district.”

No doubt. But I don't think that is a sufficient “skill set,” or even a necessary one to being able to “bring home the defense bacon.” I don't think that Mr. Hoyer has such a “skill set.” Yet, he's managed, as the military, and especially the Navy, has gone through the BRAC process, to substantially enhance military presence in his district.

But the skill set that Mr. Hoyer DOES bring is that of legislator. He has clawed his way nearly to the top of the POS (Party of Satan) landfill, and is able to bring home much booty to his district.

I don't know Mr. Lollar well enough to say whether he will excel at that sort of thing, although it may take him at least a few years to catch up to Mr. Hoyer in that regard.

“Seeing Charles Lollar in person or going to his website and checking out his videos, one only has to watch him a few and they will see he is a man up to the job.”

I know folks who know Mr. Lollar, and they are suitably impressed. I'm sure he would be a fine congressman, and a darned site more honest and decent than the incumbent.

Yet, that doesn't mean that his skills as an army major will be especially applicable to being a master pork barreller. In fact, the two things might be in some conflict with each other.

“If anyone can unseat Steny Hoyer, Charles Lollar can.”

This is the year it could get done. I don't know enough about the campaign on the ground to comment how likely that result might be.
