When the Tea Party first started out, I was a enthusiastic supporter.. The Tea Party perfectly represented what my views are.. I'm a 100% fiscal conservative and I believe in small government on ALL issues. In the beginning, the Tea Party seemed to be such movement that would support candidates based on FISCAL issues. Initially, that was the case and people like Scott Brown have been elected. However, since then, it seems like the Tea Party Express and other Tea Party organizations have been hijacked by the social conservative wing of the GOP (i.e. Sarah Palin). Social issues were introduced to the movement which has turned people away who also support small government on personal/social issues and not just exclusively small government on fiscal issues. While we all (meaning Tea Party supporters/activists) agree on fiscal issues, there are a variety of views on social issues and introducing social issues to the Tea Party was not a good idea. Recent Tea Party Express endorsements have been exclusively for hardcore social conservatives who support "big government" on social issues. As I'm personally supporting small government on ALL issues (other than those mandated by the constitution - i.e. national defense and border security), I can no longer identify with the candidates who are being endorsed by the Tea Party express as people like Sharon Angle and Christine O'Donnell are clearly supporting a big government role in controlling peoples personal/social lifes. It would be sad if the Tea Party would continue on that path instead of supporting small government on all issues, or at least stay away from social issues Most people in this country are SICK of government control of their lifes.. Most people don't want government to control their money and their personal/social lifes. They don't want to pick and choose on what part of their lifes are controlled by the government!
Enjoy the lightning show.
Now THAT is a zot!
Let’s take Glenn Beck as the perfect Tea Party Patriot example.
Glenn is socially conservative in his own life, and very religious.
He is also NOT a registered Republican, and is a self-described libertarian.
And Glenn has done more to build the Tea Party movement than anybody else. His latest Washington rally, Restoring Honor, and the Black Robed Regiment was, and is, an outreach to social conservatives, to bring them into the Tea Party, and show them how Tea Party values are their values. But notice how this was done on the Tea Party’s terms. Social conservatives were given a way in, and a reason for joining, but not at the expense of transforming the Tea Party into a vehicle for social causes.
You’re no conservative if money is your first priority.
It is never black and white. There are shades of social conservatives. But the left will paint a picture of social conservatives as fringe religious crazies. The more they are successful at doing that, the more we lose the middle. And you can’t win without the middle.

What you’ve said is true, but irrelevant. In 1984 the media—with far more control of information than they have now and a much less skeptical aufdience—were painting social conservatives as crazies who wanted nuclear war for Jesus right after all the gays died of AIDS. Hello, 49 state landslide.
You are sawing away at one of the legs of the stool. To say you aren’t doing the cause any favors would be understatement.
ROFLMBO! Exactly, exactly, exactly!
Plus, I may be reading too much into recent events, but I suspect the “Tea Parties are filling up with crazy Church Ladies” line will do about as well as Obama trying to make John Boehner into Darth Vader.
Yes. And I loved the one last week where the true whacko Krugman tried to suggest Mitch (?!) McConnell as the Mob Boss (now that's ROFLMBO!):
Can you imagine Mitch saying “Leave the gun, take the conoli?” Or how about, “SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND!!!”
Thanks, bud!
