How To Tell If You’re A Conservative
Flopping Aces ^ | 09-20-10 | Nancy Morgan

Posted on 09/20/2010 10:24:09 AM PDT by Starman417

For too long, conservatives have allowed the left to define them. With more Americans becoming disillusioned with Obama, it's time to counter the media's portrayal of conservatives as radical, illegitimate extremists, concerned only with amassing wealth and kicking gays. Here's a quick guide to help identify the basic differences between leftists and conservatives.

Conservatives understand that the system of capitalism is the greatest engine of wealth creation the world has ever known. They don't think profit is a dirty word. Leftists argue that feelings, not the bottom line, should be the motivating factor in all of life's decisions.

Conservatives believe that a man's fate is determined by the life choices he makes. Leftists believe if they're not successful, its because racist capitalists are hogging all the wealth. And that's not fair!

Conservatives know that life isn't fair and never will be. Leftists think that it should be, and that if you vote for them, they can legislate fairness. After they redefine it.

Conservatives know that throwing money at a problem usually ends up making the problem worse. Leftists believe that money can solve any problem. Preferably someone else's money.

Conservatives believe Thomas Sowell's assertion that there are no solutions - there are only trade-offs. Leftists believe that there are still free lunches, that rights trump responsibilities, and victims are more 'valid' than producers. And if you don't agree, you're just a big ol' meanie.

Well....yes and no. the biggest problem is that leftists believe in relativism - the notion that things can have different meanings depending upon circumstances, circumstances that can change at one’s whim.

That allows them to practice capitalism - including profit-taking - while simultaneously looking down their proboscis at someone else for the same thing. It also allows them to elevate feelings to the level of principles.

Leftists are the ultimate hypocrites.

Feeling are frequently mistaken or WRONG. Based on a skewed idea of an individual. Each person has several differences of opinion, yet when the idea held or discounted, dismissed, or on the other hand forced upon others there are all sorts of feeling as a result.
Betrayal. Anger. Hurt. Sorrow. Disappointment. Hate. Injured Pride, and so on. To base government of any sort or serious policy, law, ordinance, on feelings is CHAOS.. A Chaotic society is a society in trouble.

Actually if is like America today. NONSENSE passing for foundational truth.

We are in trouble ... big time.

God help us in our day, in Jesus name, amen.

“They don’t think profit is a dirty word. Leftists argue that feelings, not the bottom line, should be the motivating factor in all of life’s decisions.”

Yeah, right there is where I fall out. This is where morality, dedication, and loyalty are lost. It is also where fraud, corruption, and greed pickup.

Sucks, but thats why Capitalism requires regulation.

Probably a good article (and I may actually click on it to see) but “Flipping Aces” should be under bloggers.

Profit is not a dirty word. As the author pointed out, "Most conservatives believe in the rule of God. Leftists prefer the rule of man. As long as they are the man."

When capitalism is pursued by God-fearing men, morality, dedication, and loyalty are honored. When it is pursued outside of God's bounds, they are lost. And yes, you do need laws to protect people from those would take advantage of others, but it is not an inherent trait of capitalism.

Sorry that is the lie the LEFT lives for. In a morally relativist universe ONLY the government is clean and pure as the wind driven snow. Capitalism is FINE, only then the government gets their mitts on it do we have greed, monopoly and mass corruption...

Actually, it now appears your entire posting history is to post fragments to Flapping Aces, without a single comment anywhere, ever.

If you’d at least post in bloggers it might keep the news section a bit less cluttered.

You've got this bass ackwards.

There is no line between the quest for profit and fraud or corruption.

Criminal behavior is criminal behavior.

Conservatives understand that the system of capitalism is the greatest engine of wealth creation the world has ever known.

Where conservatives have to be careful is that they are blind to the difference between free market capitalism and crony capitalism (which is a form of fascism). When you bail out failed investment banks and make them and their owners and officers whole you destroyed free market capitalism and created croy capitalism.

"Most conservatives believe in the rule of God."

No, conservatives believe in the rule of God, period. If one doesn't believe that we have been blessed by the Almighty, and should live our lives according to His teachings, then he isn't a conservative. Maybe he's a Libertarian, but Judeo-Christian beliefs are anchors of conservatism.

IOW, there is no such thing as a "homosexual conservative", just as there is no such thing as a "anti-gun conservative", or a "tax and spend conservative".

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

“Criminal behavior is criminal behavior.”

Don’t you have to break the law to be a criminal? Without laws anything goes?

You are correct!

It begs the question is this person benefiting financially from this action?

Not only that:

In this case she’s hawking her own ESSAY (not an article), which had already been cross-posted to FA from YET A THIRD website — not to mention posting the item as “news.” Pretty cheeky, doncha think?

Wow, been a long time since I have seen this word used in a sentence. :) Jimmy Duranty just smiled. Cha, cha, cha.

“Feeling are frequently mistaken or WRONG. - - - NONSENSE passing for foundational truth.”

Jimmy Carter just said his Presidency was greater than most.

Using feelings in this way is awfully hard to distinguish from criminal insanity.
