Average LA county teacher pay is $58,000. Full benefits. Summers off.
Don't forget all their holidays, too, plus spring break and winter break. And you ought to hear them whine! "Oh, it's already time to go back to work! The summer went by soooooo fast! I need more time off! It's not fair! We teachers are so underpaid! We're not appreciated! Why should movie stars get millions of dollars while we teachers are underpaid? It should be the other way around," etc. Teachers are used to being patted on the back and told how underpaid they are, and it's gone to their heads.
I've also gotten emails from teachers where the spelling, punctuation and grammar are so hideous you wouldn't believe it.
I'm sure it can be tough, working on an LA Unified campus, where you probably have to fear for your life sometimes. I do feel sorry for the good teachers. But I've known so many whiners, my sympathy is truly limited! Especially since they have the nerve to whine in front of workers who don't earn half what they do, and who have to work 50 weeks a year for only two weeks off!
