When I last commented on Fox News Democrat analyst Kirsten Powers, I blasted her for abandoning her once-moderate posture and fully embracing the vile, smear-mongering ways of the hard Left. But in a new post on the Daily Beast, Powers issues a strong defense both of the moral seriousness and political potency of the Tea Party movement, begging the question: is there good left in her?
The Washington establishment has its nose out of joint because a rag-tag group of misfits have deigned to challenge the entitled incompetents who run the U.S. Congress. Somehow, because a few of the Tea Party candidates support abstinence training, or other garden variety right-wing notions, they are more dangerous than the people who were actually in charge of our country as it was being run into the ground economically.
Weve been treated to obsessive coverage of Christine ODonnells opinions on masturbation, and whether she had premarital sex, because we all know that these are the Very Important Issues facing our country.
Indeed. Why should a then-private citizen expressing her beliefs about sexual morality, making no mention whatsoever of government in doing so, be anywhere near as concerning as what the politicians she seeks to replace have done in office? Believing in the importance of teaching self-control to the young is no mark of insanity, and its nice to see someone on the other side speaking truth to power for a change.

A “rag tag group of misfits”. Sounds like that bunch of men who fought the British elite.
“Rag Tag”, “Gung Ho!”, “Lock & Load”, “Ba-da-Bing!”, “Presto Change-O!”
Did anybody see Mort Kondracki last night on Special report? Talk about a guy going over to the “dark side”. I always knew he was aa border line liberal but he semed somewhat moderate when he was on Beltway Boys. Last night, he sounded like a left wing loon.
Yeah, I was with that ragtag bunch of misfits Tuesday night at Christine O’Donnell’s victory rally.
Looked like ordinary Americans to me.
And they had just bounced out a 45 year politician who never lost a statewide election.
On a shoestring.
A political Lexington and Concord, if you will.
After Rove was on Hannity I made the first political donation in quite a while. At the time her goal was $300K. I was hoping she’d hit am million. Now it’s close to 2 million. Way to go, Rove!
On that note, he says it’s not his job to be a cheerleader. I wish someone would ask him “Is it your job to lambast the candidates who won but you didn’t endorse?”
Mort has always been the “left” side of The Beltway Boys.
It really is funny watching these guys, Barnes included, in a snit because the unwashed masses didn’t do what they were told to do.
Why when asked or charged about extraneous issues like masterbation, racism, personal issues doesn’t a candidate simply just dismiss them as “political stategies”?
We all know the deal. Why not say it?
If I were O’Donnell, Tea Partiers or other politicians, when asked about diplomas, masterbation, racism etc. I would simply reply that these are not issues but a “political strategy” that I would assume you as a reporter, commentator, pundit would be sophisticated enough to see through and not be an unwitting accomplice to political warfare on my opponent’s behalf.
Gee, and what will Rove say about Murkowski. So far, all I have heard is crickets.
Rove did not disclose that he approached the Delaware Tea Party groups about working for Mike Castle and not going on their own.
They politely told him to get lost.
LAst night and all day yesterday, Rove’s meme was: “I’m just an analyst for FoxNews”.
Bullsh@t! He was somehow working on Castle’s behalf, and has never disclosed that.
On Tuesday night, Russ Murphy of the Delaware 9-12 Patriots spoke after Christine and told the story of his run-in with Rove.
Rove. Some Architect! I call him the “Architect of the Lost Decade”.
When you go back to the point in the road where the GOP went wrong, Rove was there holding the sign.
I suspect that many of the political establishment are finally realizing that the Tea Party is real, is grassroots and is a force to be reckoned with this election cycle.
Don’t forget, these people went right along with dismissing the Tea Party as a front for conservatism. It is not. It is a union of those opposed to over-reaching, ever-growing government.....conservatives are just a part of this.
By the way, do you notice we do not hear the term “Tea Bagger” anymore? That tells me the reality is setting in.
Eventually, the truth always comes out.....
He was awful
Fred Barnes is useless too...Remember their Fox show the Beltway Boys? That only lasted one or two years
I liked this duo a lot better on the old John McLaughlin show which was revolutionary for its time. Fred&Mort have become more squishy soft while I have become more Tea Party....you too I think.
Mort's wife died of MS Parkinson's in 2004 and that always happens slow and gradual so lots of care taking needed. I think this toned him down a lot and made him more liberal
The Country Clubbers were there long before Rove was born. They were content to sit in the minority for 40 years while Socialism (Medicare, Medicaid, Welfare, minimum wage, etc) was ushered in bit by bit. Rove had nothing to do with any of that. What we are seeing is the Country Clubbers realizing that their days are numbered and they don't like it one bit.
No I don’t trust Kirsten Powers - I saw her dismiss the New Black Panther’s case as unimportant - I saw her tell America to “get over” 9/11. She sneers at the TEA Party.
Oh, I remember those days. The forty year period where the GOP was in the minority, and the Rockefeller Republicans.
I was referring to the period of 2000-2009, where Rove was advising Bush II, and the GOP.
We had the House and the Senate and could have fixed the country. Instead Rove lost the decade, lost the party, lost the majority, and lost Congress in 2006 and 2008.
Rove is highly over-rated. He and Bush II had “book reading” contests.
I wonder if they ever read a book about fighting back.
The only thing I’ve ever seen Mr. Whiteboard get excited about is beating up on a little girl from DE.
Powers obviously doesn't know what she believes. I've heard her contradict herself a half dozen times in less than five minutes of blather on numerous occasions in a desperate search for a coherent thought. I cannot believe that Fox employs her to give her opinion on anything. As Rush would say she is a "glittering gem of colossal ignorance"....
I wonder if either of them ever read Atlas Shugged?
If info babes are going to be irritating, flighty, and inconsistent air heads, they should at least be beautiful so that I don't feel compelled to change channels and not just turn down the sound whenever spoil my field of view.
