Totally inappropriate to name anything after a living person.
It smacks of the cult of personality. We do not carry pictures through the streets of living leaders. We do not put them on stamps. We do not name buildings after them.
The simple fact that these people don’t realize how inapproriate it is just shows how out of touch they are with Americanism.
Actually there are many buildings named after congresscritters before they died. Robert Byrd had quite a few as I recall.
The actual legislation too - Pell grant, Stafford loan. It’s a bad practice though — in the case of the latter two, it implied the money was coming from the politician rather than the taxpayer.
