Instead, I suspect hes belligerent because his own analysis of the situation is that she cant win in Delaware.

If that was his analysis he could still be gracious AFTER the primary. The shooting was done. He only helped the Democrats with his attacks on O’Donnell. He sounded like a Democrat. It could have been Carville or Begala or Rahm speaking. Even if he’s right and she can’t win, if he doesn’t take her down with his attacks, she may cause the Dems to have to pump money into the state in order to win . . . draining cash from other races. You don’t attack your parties nominee for Senate as a Republican campaign person. Worst case, you damn with faint praise. “O’Donnell and her supporters have pulled off a major upset of Mike Castle who I believe was a strong candidate who could have won Delaware easily. I congratulate Christine O’Donnell and her team on their victory.” That sort of thing. Then the question: “Do you believe that O’Donnell can win?” “I believe she can win yes, but Castle in the general election was a stronger candidate and had my support. Anything can happen between now and election day . . . “
It’s boilerplate. Second nature to a guy like Rove or should be.
“If that was his analysis he could still be gracious AFTER the primary.”
I agree.
This coming election is proving to be ‘electric’, with a dynamic hard to predict and resembling a crap shoot that’s mostly coming up “Tea Party”.
If O’Donnell gets lots of monetary support she will win this election because voters pay attention to advertisements.
If she blows-away Coons in any debates, that will add to her percentage points.
The opposition can lie about her, smear her reputation, but in the end only alienate the majority of voters.
I hope she wins and wins big come this November.
