The very short version: the NEA put up an attack ad for Denish and against frontrunner Susana Martinez that featured a teacher who proceeded to badmouth Martinezs education strategy.
The only problem? Martinez happens to have been the prosecutor who put said teachers husband away for 23 years for kidnapping something that was not exactly brought up in the first campaign ad, and which certainly calls into question the true source of the teachers ire.
Naturally, the Martinez campaign is took advantage of the mistake.
LOL! I don’t care who you are, that’s funny. Thanks.
I forgot to add the link to above explanation. It's linked in the The Blaze article.
It seems the teach, Freda Trujillo, married the kidnapper, Jesus Carmona, in 2004. In 2002, Carmona had been charged with battering his ex-girlfriend with the possibility of death or great bodily harm and kidnapping
. Carmona's first conviction was overturned on appeal. He was retried and convicted in 2006 and sentenced in 2007. Somewhere along the line Freda divorced him.
Denish's ad is an example of what, in sports and politics, is called an unforced error. How could Denish's handlers not have heard of Freda's ex-husband? LOL!
