Stop stealing my retread ZOT!
SmallGovTimes ^ | 9/8/10 | John Jay Myers

Originally the message of the Tea Party seemed clear “Less taxes and spending”. Simple enough, Right? Somehow they have gotten distracted. Very, very distracted. I know that all Tea Parties and their participants are different, so it is not fair for me to throw them all under the bus.

So for those who are distracted; let me attempt to recapture your attention.

You wake up in the middle of the night to the sound of breaking glass, when you stumble out of your bed into the living room you find a man standing there with your TV in his arms. Of course your first reaction is to exclaim loudly and with all of your energy “Should gays be allowed to marry?” Wait, I am sorry, no you don’t, you scream “Should they build a Mosque in New York City?”, no wait, you say “What’s your stance on abortion?”

Of course not you scream “Stop stealing my stuff!”...

My point to this is simple, if 80% of the people in America believe that our government is corrupt, what is the point of dividing ourselves? As long as you are preoccupied with these other topics, you wont have time to focus on the real issues. You can argue about gay marriage, abortion and other religions, after we get these people out of office so they will “Stop stealing our stuff!”

>>Murdering babies in the womb is as “real” as an “issue” can get.<<

Everyone who is silent and accepts the murder of the unborn is worse than the most vile of child molesters. Drilling a hole in a baby’s head and sucking the brain out is the worst form of child molesting.

The faces and the screams of the unborn dead will haunt them for all eternity in Hell.

Welcome to FR.

Now about your misconception. Conservatism is a whole cloth made of fiscal and social conservatism. Cut out part of it and you have swiss cheese cloth. You see, all those social programs? They cost money. YOUR money. It's all of ONE cloth.

Without first removing the enablers

How does one know who all the enablers are if you don't know where they stand on social issues which is where they spend your money?

Contempt at the almost total ignorance of the real world with many delusional, small, narrowly-focused people.

**********************

How is someone who is focused on social and fiscal issues more narrowly focused than someone who is only focused on fiscal issues?

Besides, if you fracture conservatives into single issue 'groups', then no one group will have enough votes. jmo

Excellent observation.

In Engineering school, we are taught “Do NOT allow the quest for perfection to make you miss what’s ‘good enough’.”

The ‘main thing’ in the coming elections ( multiple cycles beginning in 2010 ) is to purge the system of the progressive / liberal / anti-constitutional / anti-American elements. Otherwise, we get NO progress towards ‘restoring the America’ we all seem to want.

Anybody who’s on that mission is on my side, regardless of which particular issue motivates him / her. I’ll happily ‘fellow-travel’ with the Pro-lifers, Christians, Fair-taxers, Libertarians, Blue-dogs or whatever as long as they’re working WITH me to dump “ ... the progressive / liberal / anti-constitutional / anti-American elements ... “ yada-yada-yada.

Anybody who thinks we can ‘restore America’ in one sweeping electoral ‘fit’ doesn’t understand the mission.

Another thing we were taught was called the Pareto principle — SOMETHING is causing the majority ( like up to 80% or more ) of the trouble. Solve THAT and you’ve solved 80% of your problems. Then, among whatever’s left, SOMETHING is causing the majority ( like up to 80% or more ) of the trouble. Solve THAT and you’ve solved ANOTHER 80% of your remaining problems. Then, among whatever’s left ... Lather, rinse and repeat ‘til done.

Now, go on back to your corners and come out FIGHTING !

One man’s opinion ...

Ground Zero Mosque is about money (Taxpayer money used to finance the building, the loss of revenue and damage to the economy by those who want the mosque built there etc.)

Gay Marriage is an argument about equal rights under the law. The reason they can make this argument is because the government gives monetary goodies to married persons in the form of tax breaks etc.

Abortion is about killing unborn babies AND using taxpayer money to do it with.

Its always about money...

Always...

but marriage is rewarded by society because it offers benefits to the future of society. Homosexual conduct offers nothing zip nada to society.

Same for Mosque, it only offers to go back 800 or so years to the dark ages.

"but marriage is rewarded by society because it offers benefits to the future of society."

Sorry the "Some Big Government is OK" argument is the very definition of the slippery slope. If your argument is that "Some Social Engineering is OK as long as I agree with it", then you are going to lose in the courts because equal protection under the law means just that.

Know that if the government had not given monetary goodies to married folks the gay marriage issue would have no standing.

two words:

Unintended Consequences

turning the ship of state is done a bite at a time...a conservative first on economics then comes the social issues. Some may not like to hear that but that is how the liberals made a mess of this country, it didn't happen overnight and the abortion issue has made great head way in changing hearts, that won't stop, but the economics must be #1 or you lose every time if economics is not a major consideration first....then go after all the social issues..

Those that pray outside of clinic's will continue and people will continue to change minds....The prayers of the righteous do more for moral issues.

Get enough conservatives backing a conservative president and the subject will still be up to the supreme court.... thats where a conservative president can make a difference..

"Two more words: Up yours!"

Look I don't like the idea of Gay Marriage. However when the government allowed monetary consideration for marriage it opened the door.

Like it or not if the government had not done so Gay Marriage would be dead in the water.

And that my friend is fact.
