Regarding Delaware, the GOP primary there presents the question of how do we get the most conservative possible Congress: by electing a Republican in a blue state who will vote with us 50–60 percent of the time, or a Democrat who will vote with us basically never? That’s essentially the choice in the Castle-O’Donnell race, since O’Donnell would have a very hard time winning in the general election (even Castle will not necessarily have a cakewalk — Sean Trende points out that his lead over the Democrat Chris Coons does not look impregnable in such a Democratic state). In the spectrum of conservative upstarts, O’Donnell seems more a J. D. Hayworth (a candidate with deep, ultimately fatal credibility problems) than a Rand Paul (an unusual candidate and ideological purist, but one plausible enough to win in a fairly conservative state). I wouldn’t be shocked if O’Donnell wins the nomination, given how small the primary electorate will be, but it will probably mean a more liberal Senate in the end.

I’d rather see O’Donnell lose than Castle win. RINO’s are a bigger problem than the dems.

I was thinking about this last night, and I’m frankly thinking that even if it means not taking the Senate this time around, I hope Kirk and Castle get capped. Kirk in the general, and Castle by O’Donnell in the primary. In neither case will we actually be losing seats, just not winning them. In 2012, there will be another round of seats in red/purple states that we can pick up, and get the majority then.

If there is a close vote where the Republicans need Castle’ vote to win, you can bet the farm he will vote with the Democrats. Who cares about votes when the party is going to win anyway? When it’s important, people like him are NEVER there.

High I am Rich Lowry, and I still want to go to RNC wine and cheese socials, hob nob, have access, and why would we want this non top 10 educated interloper interfere with our party?

Besides, how will Sen. Cornyn back down from his loosing hand stance backing all the RINO's and now fund this interloper?

I know what you mean and I feel the same way in AZ. I would rather see the ‘rat win than John McCain. If re-elected John McCain will become a lightening rod for Rinos and moderate ‘rats and will set about enacting his own agenda...which basically is doing whatever it takes to poke conservatives in the eye. I just want the bastard to lose.

I disagree. Long-term success of the GOP requires a purging of all RINOs on the ballot each election cycle and bringing those not yet up for re-election to heel lest they see their pink slip get issued on primary day.

In short, can Castle NOW. Clean out the “establishment” GOP and replace them with true Republicans who will give America a choice - not an echo.

Castle is not worth the headaches that will come. IMO.

He will be a royal pain in the ass/gang of 14 type, providing liberal cover at every opportunity. He’d be the lib media’s new fav Republican Senator, criticizing his own party — at every turn.

Then I could envision media whores like McCain and Grahamnesty getting jealous of the love affair... and trying to out RINO each other. It could get ugly.

No thanks.

Not only that I think we (the Republican) lose way more votes on the right than we ever gain on the left. If I had a dime for every conservative who shuns the Republicans because they won't stand for principals I'd be rich. And those principals are simple and were unanimously agreed to on July 4, 1776.

I’m starting to believe that if this is the time to take back America and God wants that to happen we need to work for the most conservative candidate we can. If God wants that candidate in office it isn’t going to matter what the pundits say. The candidate that most fits God’s ideals is going to win.

I say let’s help the most conservative candidate running and let God do the rest.
