Book burning is antithetical to American ideals. People have a constitutional right to burn a Koran if they want to, but doing so is insensitive and an unnecessary provocation much like building a mosque at Ground Zero.

So, the muslims need to understand they are going to have a Koran burning whether they like it or not.
This is America, not Saudi Arabia. I do believe if the muslims would have respected and been sensitive to a mosque at Ground Zero, perhaps the Korans would have not been burned.
Muslims need to be equalized in the understanding of the American way.
They should not be a protected religion.
I myself realize that burning a few Korans or a Bible does not wipe out the meaning of/or all bibles or Korans. This is not a religious thing, it is totally political.
THank you for the answer. It was indeed Ghandi (I didn’t know, I had always heard it and it didn’t sound really Jesusy, more new agy in wording) so I googled.
Very funny, but it's not what He said, it's how He lived. He refused to join the mob who wanted to stone the adulterous woman, but told them mob, "let he who is without sin cast the first stone." When the mob left, he told the woman, "neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more". There are many more examples, but this is not a Bible study thread.
Its time to call this burning out for what it is, plain stupidity. I agree with Sarah on this one.
If he saw a group of psychopaths fly planes into high-rises, I doubt he would have said “turn the other cheek”.
Sarah Palin has not thought this out. She has chimed in where she should have stayed out of it. Foolish on her part.
You are the one bringing the Bible into it. It’s not fair for you to do that and then chastise me for asking questions. But it’s ok, someone else answered for you.
Where did you get that ridiculous statement? The Koran is not scripture, nor did I claim it to be so. But how do you begin to open the hearts and minds of those who have committed themselves to Islam by burning that book?
I would have thought she’d have sensed the infinite depth of passion rising in the American soul against this satanic insult.
This pastor has a flock of 50 people. This is America, if they want to burn Korans, so be it.
A flock of 50 does not speak for all.
This is being used to get people like you on the side of your future beheaders, stoners, and shariah masters.
Don’t fall for it like Palin has.
Another out of touch politician.....surprise, surprise!
(I support what she says by the way)
I agree with her points -the one stated, and the one implied. Both premised in principle...
First -yes, it may be legal to burn the flag, burn a book, or build a mosque; HOWEVER, legality does not make something right...
Second, a response premised in fear of reprisal is nothing but surrender of one principle for political expedience... A principled response to the question must as well declare the building of the mosque wrong...
Sarah gets it -0zero remains clueless
I share your feelings. Politics has a tendency to make people do things they probably would not do otherwise.
This will certainly turn a lot of folks in here against Palin.
Yes the fact that they are murdering Christians bothers me. So how does this event planned by the pastor make that any better?
And how is my concern for the welfare of Christians and missionaries in Muslim lands “socialist”?
There are some battles that have to be fought, regardless of the consequences. But we need to pick the battles wisely. This is not something that will help stem the tide of radical Islam, nor will it advance the cause of Christ. So tell me, other than some childish thrill at flipping off the Muslims, what benefit will there be to this act?
“Christians are already martyred in these countries on a regular basis, and this has the potential to fan those flames.”
Oh, you mean speed up an atrocity that is already occurring? Did you really mean to say this? How can you defend this nonsense?
You need to quit projecting your emotions on others and learn to think rationally. Just saying.
