Getting what we need

All the talk, right now, is about the coming Midterm elections, and what people are saying is that the Republicans are going to have a success in 2010 to rival or even exceed their great sweep of 1994. No one other than a Democrat can deny that that would be a good thing, but HOW good would it be? Would a total takeover of the Congress be the best thing that could happen for the Republican Party? For America? If it wouldn't, what would be? The Democrats started the 2009 Congress with....

The GOOD: The GOP will dominate in 2010. A Tsunami. 100+ seats. Biggest windfall in HISTORY.

The BAD: The Economy is going to get worse. If the GOP does not SLASH and BURN. Does not CUT back, far beyond the wussified 2008 nonsense the Bonehead said in his speech. Far beyond 1988!! Then, the GOP will be BLAMED and Obama will get a second term and control back. And we are SCREWED.

This is, unlike all the others, truly, our LAST GREAT CHANCE.

I just fear the RINO wimps are going to blow it.

Well, they have LESS determination than they had in 1995, and in 1995, they eventually caved to Clinton when he got the media to talk bad about them during the budget fight. If Obama does the same, he will pick off enough GOP Senators and House members to get a budget he likes, then he will blame it all on Republicans after that.

Now, if they had the gumption to pass a budget with spending set to 2008 amounts and to refuse to fund anything else, and to let the government come to a halt if Obama doesn't sign it, they would win after a week or two or three of bad press. Bob Dole ruined it last time; would Mitch McConnell do the same? I think so.

Agreed. If the GOP stands their ground, we’d gain ANOTHER 100 seats and the Dems would be left with only the 95% gerrymandered districts in the inner cities.

But they won’t. And surely not McConnell. Bohner. Daniels. Not these sissies.

They won’t even STOP the spending. Courage?

They have less courage than an abused dog.

I think that we’d better be ready to have some TEA party protests as soon as they start playing Dem-lite.

I know a lot of us here cut off the RNC, but maybe we need to make a bigger issue of it so we can cut off RINOs from the Republican purse strings. Perhaps we need to replace the RNC with another organization to fund candidates?

The Republicans better know that this is their last chance and they’d best be prepared to play hardball on our behalf if they want the keys again. And that’s hardball against the Dems, the Rinos, the press, and Urkel.

I a conservative caucus forms that enforces policy on its members, and which becomes an intellectual counterweight to the RINO caucus, it will be a positive development. After this election, they can get to 50 percent or so of the overall GOP caucus. They could then work to elect more conservatives and to get the majority in their caucus, to take leadership from Boehner and McConnell. In 2013, if we could have DeMint running the Senate and Ryan or someone like that running the House, with a conservative President, we could make a lot of progress.

That is, if the RINOs don't remind people why they got rid of Republicans last time.

It’s the caveat at the end which bothers ME.

Because that is exactly what we DID do in the 20s 50s 90s and why do we see ANY signs that things will change?

I predict a GREAT victory in the 2010 battle and a DISASTROUS DEFEAT in the war.

If there is one thing you can count on RINOs to do, it is screw it up.
