They're already here and have majorities in both houses of Congress. Fortunately, they haven't (yet) ginned up a Reichstag Fire event that will allow the cancellation of elections this Fall, but I'm confident they're working on it. And in terms of competency as a political strategist, orator, or leader, they've chosen a singularly incapable captain. But never doubt that they are quite willing to kill off lots of Americans to keep themselves in power.

Funny thing is, the characteristic of Americans which (along with what was even in the 1930's a racially mixed society) made the Nazis confident that we'd fold up like a cheap suit was our unwillingness to march in step like good little automatons. Governing Americans is and should be akin to herding cats. And around 100 million of those cats possess a couple hundred million modern firearms. That makes the work of our new Commissars / SS a little more tricky than what their predecessors had to deal with.
