I actually prefer books. I do technology for a living. Sometimes its nice to feel pages and smell paper and ink. I do too, and many of the books I keep are out of print, but I think an electronic reader will work nicely for storing copies of the classics, like Canterbury Tales etc. If I can get all of those onto a reader, I can send the hard copies off to Goodwill and free up several yards of shelving.
How do you feel about the new paperback size? I **HATE** it myself. I went to a lot of trouble to build extra shelves into my bookcases-for-paperbacks to make them exactly the right size for mass market pb's, and then the new size came out.

I just got back from stocking up on Charmin. . . . ben needs something squeezably soft for his sensitive nether regions.

DU is a minority group who often seems to thinks it the majority I think this sentence should be included in the "About Us" of DUmmieland.

Do you mean that larger size? I kind of like it- but I’m weird.

I hope he didn’t squeeze it.

Birds of a feather! I get that same pleasure when I pick up Ann Coulter’s latest at Borders. The liberalness just seeps from the pores of the sales clerks and I see their noses twitch and the snobby sniffing starts when they are forced to ring up the sale.

Isn't it fun doing that to 'em? I live in NYC (either Sodom or gomorrah, depending on your POV), and I just love doing things like asking one of the pierced, hair-dyed little liberal freaks to find a conservative book for me - I imagine it just ruins the whole day for some of them.

I'd hate to have to stop shopping there. Their frozen tequila-lime tilapia is to die for. But the imbalance on that book table was just ridiculous. That has to be ben burch!
"to die for?"

That’s too funny!!!
In 2004, before Ann was going to speak here in town, I brought one of her books and her action figure doll into work to show my mostly conservative friends (we have private offices and I wasn’t displaying it around the office, just a select few).
I seriously had no idea how crazy that would make one of my very liberal colleagues.
He has a good sense of humor and I haven’t bothered him since, I hadn’t done it on purpose to anger him and didn’t know the reaction I’d get.
That night, another liberal tossed a pie at her to shut her up!!
Anyway, so now I only parade her book around at Costco...hahah.

Heads up, everybody! It looks like this is buffalo wings week for me starting in a few days. I plan on getting about 16,000 buffalo wings starting later in the week and will be very busy on that for a full week. Also planning on getting several hundred body washes at the same time. So if you don’t see me much starting around thursday or friday, it is because I will be busy picking up and trading off about 16,000 buffalo wings. My biggest deal yet!

Spot on. I too, spend my workday with computers and I enjoy reading a real, tangible book or magazine. E-books versus real books, to me, is like the difference between playing a driving game and driving.

What you do is you just take a book from the next pile and gently place it over the top of the pile of right wing crap. This is tantamount to the coyote painting a cave opening on the side of the mountain for the roadrunner to smash into. Like we're not intelligent enough to maybe look at the spines of the books? Look at the labels on the shelves/tables? Pick up a book or two from a stack? Children sweeping dirt under the rug.

does Amazon even have gift cards? Yes, I got one from my aunt last Christmas (and lost it! or it was stolen by my former maid.)

Since the boys are grown I have a big, empty house. Room for plenty more books to join their thousands of brothers. As I widower I don’t have a wife to conciliate.
