Another factor is that many Jews of the WWII era were traumatized by the Holocaust, losing many relatives. They associated this with the Germans, of course, but also with Christians in general. Many had lost relatives not only to the Germans, but in previous religiously driven pogroms. The godless Democrats seemed less Christan than the Republicans. Also, FDR was a dominant figure not only during the Depression, but during WW II.

Once the party choice was made, many of them weren't going to change, despite the evidence in front of them that the Dems are really bad news, and increasingly anti-Semitic with the passing of time.

Party choice is a funny thing--Even I, a GOP leaning Independent with some libertarian leanings, keep coming back to the GOP like a battered wife. Hope springs eternal, I guess.

Liberal Jews despise Fundamentalist Christians more than anything. When the fundies became rich, powerful and influential with the advent of TV and mega churches then the hatred became visceral. Pity. Jews should just get a thicker skin. The fundies mean them no harm.

Social justice uses the same concepts of evil (emotionalism, altruism, collectivism, statism, socialism) that the Nazis used. If the Jews want to avoid a repeat, they should be for the opposite.

I’ve had a Jewish friend years ago who fit this mold exactly. To him socialism WAS his religion, not Judaism. He thought,as these socialist/Marxists truly believe that they really are so much more enlightened and know better than we the proletariat and if they can just get the right ‘’leader’’(cult of personality) they’ll get to Utopia. No matter how much of someone’s else sweat and how many millions die to get there. They never learn.

Maybe some of it is the “please eat me last” mentality. Fawn on the people in power who hate your group in order to make them think that you are really not part of the hated group. Support actions aimed at harming your group to show that you are really not one of them. Then they will not turn against you until the rest of the group is eliminated. You will live a little longer.
