“The transformative power of the song was investigated by journalist Bill Moyers in a documentary released in 1990. Moyers was inspired to focus on the song’s power after watching a performance at Lincoln Center, where the audience consisted of Christians and non-Christians, and he noticed that it had an equal impact on everybody in attendance, unifying them.”

I saw this special many years ago. As I recall he explored how it had a calming effect on crowds in many disasterous situations. I always have enjoyed this sound over the years.

Amazing Grace is a Christian hymn and has no secular meaning...

I agree - The transformative power of Jesus Christ has always been known to cause such effects in both Christians and non-Chrisitans...

(whether people ultimately accept Christ into their hearts or not, is entirely a separate matter)
