Is there a post about this more filled with fact than editorial comment. I read the source and am still unsure as to what has happened.

A previous post included the text of a human rights report purportedly filed by the administration which mentioned the administration position relative to AZ SB1070. This was a pdf document located on a .gov site and appeared to be authentic. However, it did not call for any U.N. action or appear to be any sort of appeal to the U.N. for help. It does announce the “dirty laundry” to the rest of the world and hold Arizona up for scorn. Thus, it was highly inappropriate and in bad taste.

There was a link at the bottom of the Free Canada post cited in this thread which appeared to point to a related Free Canada post which probably had the url for the above-mentioned document. Otherwise, the url was in a prior FR thread. Sorry, I didn’t keep it.

My prior posts on this thread have been essentially agreeing with your assessment; i.e., there is a lot of opinion and not much fact in the original Free Canada article. I also dispute the analysis of the author and claim he has gone over the top.

PHOENIX – Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer demanded Friday that a reference to the state's controversial immigration law be removed from a State Department report to the United Nations' human rights commissioner. The U.S. included its legal challenge to the law on a list of ways the federal government is protecting human rights. In a letter to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Brewer says it is "downright offensive" that a state law would be included in the report, which was drafted as part of a UN review of human rights in all member nations every four years.
