Today co-anchor Matt Lauer traveled to New Orleans, on Friday, to mark the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and interviewed the likes of former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin, former FEMA Director Mike Brown, current Democratic Mayor Mitch Landrieu and Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, but saved any sort of direct shots at George W. Bush for his interview with Laura Bush.

I’m not joking. For the life of me I cannot understand why 3 or 4 of the most egregious assclowns of the leftist media aren’t harassed like they harass people on their hit list. It's a sad day when a good conservative can no longer discern a lady with manners from a liberal. She never said Obama was great in terms of policy, she merely chose not to participate in the mud slinging. Would you rather her start acting like Obama who behaves like a petulant three year old w/ his finger in everyone's face? She has never held office, she is decent to the core, and there was NEVER a MINUTE in eight years when I was not grateful for the service she and her husband offered to a nation in desperate need of grace.

I think if you read more about her instead of listening to the MSM you would determine that she is thoughtful and simply chose not to contradict her husband in public; isn't this part of the role of a first lady, to some degree? He is the person we ELECTED, after all. He was never for abortion or gay marriage.

Laura Bush is a gracious lady. She also knows that, as former First Lady, she can’t speak her mind. She must be polite and kind. She knows, first hand, what it’s like to live in the White House and have brickbats thrown at you every day.

Find a liberal who says this about abortion and I'll agree that Laura Bush is not at least a moderate:

She did say, however, that the country should do "what we can to limit the number of abortions, to try to reduce the number of abortions in a lot of ways, and that is, by talking about responsibility with girls and boys, by teaching abstinence, having abstinence classes everywhere in schools and in churches and in Sunday school."

Please, provide the name of just ONE liberal who will even USE the word 'abstinence.' Good luck!!!

I never linked being elected to any part of this discussion. My only contention is that while Laura is certainly a lady in demeanor and substance, her political beliefs are those of a modern day liberal. No need for venom.
