“New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has doubled down on his “defense of religious liberty” rhetoric with respect to the proposed mosque near Ground Zero. To listen to the mayor, you’d think that the religious liberty of American Muslims was in jeopardy. That’s nonsense, of course.
Religious liberty is the right to worship free of government-imposed obstacles. Rather than imposing obstacles, the Bloomberg Administration has bent over backwards to accommodate Muslim-Americans. As I’ve noted elsewhere, there are at least one hundred mosques in New York City right now, and people worship there unmolested. Years ago, Mayor Bloomberg appointed the General Counsel of CAIR, a Muslim activist front group, to the NYC Human Rights Commission, where he continues to sit. Coddling Muslims is Mayor Bloomberg’s stock in trade.
So no government obstacles have impeded the proposed mosque near Ground Zero. To the contrary, all local government boards, including the Community Board, have voted in favor of the project. So by definition, the “religious liberty” of the Muslims proposing this project has not been impaired. And Mayor Bloomberg knows it.
Bloomberg’s rhetoric is all a distraction from the real issues, which are Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s failure to move quickly after he was elected to either (1) rebuild Ground Zero as a commercial district; or (2) turn Ground Zero into a national monument, with changes to zoning and land use consistent with such a use.

With Bloomberg it is follow the money. He is protecting his wallet at the expense of the 9/11 victims’ families and NYC citizens. His company Bloomberg LP has made Dubai a financial hub to capitalize on shari’a finance. To protect this investment he will support the mosque until he is out of office. He is another self-dealing politician.

The Muslims own his ass that is why he supports this mosque.
He is their “Useful Infidel”, grabbing his ankles in the service of the Muslim Anschluss..
