...If I sell something “large” to a private party I go with bank to bank wire or cashiers check from MY bank not theirs. They can buy a cashiers check at my bank with their cash. The bank accepts responsibility for the cash and deposits the cashiers check into my account.

Thanks for the tip. I had not thought of that.

I do know that even cashiers checks can be forged and your bank will deposit it but then when it is rejected your bank will deduct the money from your account. But if it's from your bank I assume you can certainly check it out pretty fast.

Yes and exactly the reason I am specific about the cashiers check being issued by MY bank or another local bank. Cashiers checks deposited into the same bank it was issued is “cleared” internally. No need to send it through the system because its like taking money out of one pocket and putting it in another. The funds never leave your possession
