Been told that about Universals, but it hasn't happened yet. The double spring system might be the culprit, as in one spring not riding even with the other as the bolt is brought forward.

Do you know if it happens when the rifle is in need of a thorough cleaning? I keep my weapons very clean and lubed ... well, I used to, before I sold them all to that guy whose name escapes me now.

I wonder if the hammer/firing pin shape could have something to do with it? Maybe the open side on the slide? Anyway, I really enjoy shooting the little rascal. I shoot dandelion puffs at 100 yards and beyond when they're in season.

BTW, I replaced the Universal bolt parts with all Iver Johnson heat treated parts.

All I know is that if I hold the breach open and pull the trigger it goes “click”

I’d have to put an empty case with a primer in there to see if the firing pin actually hits the primer out of breach.

That would be very bad.

I have been shooting the thing since 83 and it aint blowed up yet, but I thought I had best mention it to you.
