I’m not omnipresent/omniscent...
I’ve only heard of one incident in which a Garand was used in a criminal act.
It’s been maybe a decade or more...but I think some poor soul went
“a little off in the head” and fired an M-1 off in his neighborhood.
IIRC, it was in Texas (DFW area?), but I don’t think anyone else was injured.

Sorry I can’t recall if the fate of the shooter (apprehended, shot by
police, committed suicide).

On a personal note...
What I can tell you is that I was shocked to see a guy carrying an
M-1 on the “south campus” of UCLA on a Saturday morning about a
decade ago.

I approched the fellow and said “Is that a Garand?” and he repsonded that
it was...and that he was on his way to the shooting club on campus.
(believe it or not, UCLA did have a shooting club.)

He let me handle/inspect the Garand; he said it was Korean War vintage.
