Representative Cathie McMorris Rodgers and businessman John Koster rolled to primary wins Tuesday night in their respective legislative districts.

Incumbent Congresswoman Rodgers (R) has represented the 5th congressional district that includes Spokane since 2005. She won 63% of the vote. She will face Democratic rival Daryl Romelyn who attracted 12% of the vote. By Washington law, the top two vote getters in a primary square off in the general, regardless of party.

Both Rodgers and Koster were endorsed by Gov. Sarah Palin.

I just wish her endorsement of Clint Didier had done more for him! Instead of Didier facing Patty Murray it will be Dino Rossi.

Daryl Romeyn was a weatherman in Spokane before running for office:

I like Didier a lot, and I think there’s a bright future for him in some office. But he wasn’t going to beat Patty-cakes. He just doesn’t have the recognition yet. Rossi can and probably will beat Patty. I think he’d be an excellent Senator.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Didier run for Governor, or of course there’s Cantwell’s seat.

One of the counts that I saw this morning showed that Rossi could have a slight lead over Murray, if he gets all the R votes and she gets all the D votes. It’s no guarantee, but it’s a promising start and a good place for Rossi to be.

He needs to pull out the stops on the campaign now. He can win this thing.

Hopefully if Rossi wins by only a few hundred votes he fights for the win tooth and nail. Gregoire taught Dems to cheat better.
