Hamas is shiite. Obama is Sunni. I doubt Obama is backing Hamas in all of this.
Here’s a big problem on Obama’s plate coming up - Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and the UAE are scared out of their minds about Iran (shiite). Their current plan is to throw the Jews and the Infidels (us) at Iran to stop them.
Obama’s made it clear he’s no fan of the Jews. The US is no fan of muslims of both stripes, due to the fact that they are brutal, intolerant a$$holes. The faction that want us dead are either tacitly or actively supported by the factions that won’t lift a finger to distance themselves from the radicals or root them out of their mosques.
More over, Islam isn’t a ‘religion’. You don’t have the choice of ‘believing’, or deciding you ‘don’t believe’. Once in, you can’t leave. If you are not muslim, the quran says, (paraphrasing) ‘submit, convert, or prepare to die’. Jefferson created the ultimate test on what a religion is or isn’t: “It neither breaks my back, nor picks my pocket what another man believes.”
There should be no physical or economic ramifications to one’s choice of faith. Islam is a militant faction, not a religion. As such, it should not enjoy any first amendment rights. Muslims should be compelled to either renounce radicalized, Medina-style Islam, leave the United States, or become a prisoner of war.
Too bad we Americans are such poor students of history. This Cordoba Center is going to be the next Dome of the Rock - a monument to a great Islamic victory.
If it weren’t for Charles Martel, I’m sure there would be similar monuments in Paris, Barcelona, Madrid, Lisbon, Rome, and other places in Europe.

Local radio station was reporting a Ha’aretz story that they have chosen to move the mosque (called “islamic center”) somewhere else. Haven’t heard any follow up yet.
