His refusal to comment on the proposed building of the mosque is a comment in itself. He’s voting ‘present’ again, trying to have it both ways while being able to say that he’s neither for nor against it. Technically, he may be right on that, but to the vast majority of the citizens of this country, his refusal to comment indicates that he is okay with the mosque being there. It also indicates that his judgement is seriously warped.

But he did comment. He specifically referenced it five separate times.

"Recently attention has been focused on the construction of mosques in certain communities, particularly New York...sensitivities surrounding the development of lower Manhattan...the 9/11 attacks were deeply traumatic...and Ground Zero is indeed hallowed ground; but...I believe that muslims have the right to practice their religion as everyone else...and that includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan..."
