Congress About To Pass 'The ______Act of____' (These Are The People We Elect?)

from the bang-head-on-wall-slowly dept This coming Wednesday I was supposed to be attending the Congressional Internet Caucus' State of the Net West event, but late last week it was announced that the event was postponed, because for only the third time in the past twenty years, the Speaker of the House (in this case, Nancy Pelosi) has called the House back into session early to vote on pending legislation. With Congress back in session the Congressional reps scheduled to attend the event couldn't make it, and it's not much of a Congressional Internet Caucus get together without Congressional reps. Anyway, the last time the House was called back early like this, it involved emergency legislation to deal with Hurricane Katrina. So what's so important this time around? Apparently, it's The ______Act of____.

Yes, The ______Act of____.

What good does it do to read a piece of legislation?

As noted in a comment on the web site even if it was titled it probably won't be about what the title says, example: “Bill to tax the rich more”, but in reality it would be a bill to tax everyone more except rich democrats.

Don’t you know? You have to pass the bill to know what is in the bill and now what it is about?

If the founding fathers spin any faster in their graves they will hit oil.....

Well of course under the democrat control of the Congress we must wait until a bill is passed before we can know what is in it.

So maybe they will name after we find that out???

Of course for the democrats....

People at Townhall meetings who question these actions are considered like Nazis in the eyes of the democrats.

People who protest to limit the power and scope of the federal government are considered racist and as even possible terrorists by the democrats. You and your grandma need to be put on a watch list.

If you question the Constitutionality of the ‘natural born’ citizen clause then you are a fringe kook, who is racist, and have no standing in our society at all.

The ________ Act of ________ is fitting as to how this current fascist democrat party treats the issues. This to them is a perfectly fine bill that they again forced down the American peoples throats.

We need to refuse to recognize them and refuse to follow their self serving, nationally detrimental, laws

It seems like I see a progression here. It's more than just preventing the media and the American People from influencing legislation. Congress could be putting themselves out of a job and handing ultimate power to the WH.

Just loading a bill down with complicated legalese isn't good enough for them, they're cloaked in secrecy now ("We have to pass it before we know what's in it"). Now bills don't even have names any more, I guess they're keeping it a secret even from themselves?

In the end, Congress could pass blank sheets of paper and fill in the details later. But WHO will fill in the details? Why, those responsible for enforcement, of course - the Executive Branch.

Need to build a bridge, create a new tax, pay a constituent? Grab a blank bill and fill it in to suit your needs.

I’m just glad they blanked out the homosexual cursewords in the title.

Finally, bipartisanism!
