With Karen Handel conceding to Nathan Deal in the race for governor in Georgia, Newt Gingrich's possible presidential campaign should not hang in the balance. There is no way, none whatsoever, that Deal would have beaten Handel if home-state icon Gingrich had not weighed in so heavily for him. He barely squeaked past Ms. Handel. But Mr. Deal has a pending federal investigation against him. If this investigation finds Deal to have seriously erred, and it costs Georgia Republicans the governorship, it is Gingrich who should get the blame. Gingrich already has insulted conservatives not just by endorsing DeDe Scozzafava over Doug Hoffman in New York last year, but actually criticizing Hoffman supporters in harsh and disparaging terms. Now he carries the ethically-challenged Deal across the finish line. This is his Deal now. One can only hope that the charges against Deal have no merit. But Democrats reportedly are licking their chops. They thought Deal was a weaker candidate in the general election than Handel. IF they prove right, Gingrich should not be allowed to live it down. When are Washington GOPers going to stop their sickening mutual back-scratching and letting the local Republican voters make decisions on their own?

Heh, yes, I’m out of date, but so is Gingrich.
“Palin will come out of this one looking good if Deal gets indicted.”
I am concerned about possible Federal actions and that is perhaps why Palin supported Handel. Hope there is no smoke to the potential fire of corruption in the Deal camp.
My fear is that the fed investigation into Deal will bear fruit (surprise!) right before the election.
Half of Georgia voters are Dem moochers who are always whining for govt to give them something — perpetually posed with their hand held out.
I can’t make sense out of the other half. I guess they prefer Hucksterish, Gingrichian career politicians who won’t change a single thing, other than to work on getting re-elected and padding their political nest.
Handel didn’t lose, she dang near *tied*. But, I’m afraid Georgia Republicans will have lost the most, once all is said and done. Especially if Deal’s investigation results in Barnes winning the general election. Just... crud.
Governor Hermain Cain!
Sauropod! I have been thinking about you the past couple days, and all the DC FReepers, wondering how you’ve been and this is the post I find? You need to wash your mouth out with soap :-)
I think Neal Boortz helped push Deal over the top with his commments last week on his radio show. It was concerning Roy Barnes and the teacher’s union. Handle can’t beat Roy Barnes!
The thing that disturbs me most about Speaker Newt Gingrich is not what he is saying today, I think thats great, its that hes waited so long to say it.
What I mean is that when he was completely out of power, he was making nice with Hillary Clinton and that NY loser and other things that werent Republican or conservative. Now, when hes clearly running for president, and he smells which way the wind is blowing, hes set his sails to be a part of it.
In other words, Newt isnt a leader, hes a follower. What would keep him from changing course if he was president?
On the other hand, Governor Sarah Palin and a few other Republican leaders, none of whom are running for president such as Representatives Steve King and Michelle Bachmann, are clearly leaders who can be trusted to keep the faith regardless of which way the political winds are blowing. Theyre very tough people. Palin, King and Bachmann alone have all proven to be far tougher and far smarter than Sh*t-For-Brains.
I love the fact that Gov. Palin is making Mr. Obama look like the fool he is right now and has consistently been doing it since the 2008 election runup. There are, maybe, 5 or 6 Republicans who can be characterized that way and they dont include No Cojones Boehner, Milquetoast McConnell, McTraitor the RINO Bob Dole clone, Linseed Grahamnesty, Myth Romney, Huck Finn, Gingrich or Pawlenty.
When the GOP takes over the house and the senate, WE must put enormous pressure on them to follow the principles in and letter of the law of the Constitution or theyll be seduced by the D.C. fog too.
IMO, after they impeach Obama and issue arrest warrants for the czars (to start), they MUST pass a law mandating that any new law have both a sunset provision AND MUST conform to and be supported by the exact wording in the Constitution or it cannot be made into law.
They must impeach at least two Supreme Court Justices, maybe three, and dozens of Federal Circuit Court Judges for treason.
Then well talk about term limits for congressmen and senators. After that, there should be a review of ALL presidential findings and executive orders nullifying all those findings and orders that do not conform to the Constitution precisely or put the country at risk or destroy our Constitutionally guaranteed freedoms. Start with the never ending EO that we are in a constant state of emergency giving the president virtually unlimited powers to act as a dictator.
I also like the idea of limiting the budget of the government to 5% of the GDP, exclusive of the military, border protection services and the collection of excise taxes. By limiting the budget to 5% of GDP, it is an incentive for the government to increase business income, not decrease it and build up the parasitic federal government. Eliminate the income tax as well as the Department of Education which is nothing more than the propaganda arm of the Democrat Party, and HUD whose job it is to enslave everyone.
There is a sh*tload of cleanup to be done and IMO, nobody but Governor Sarah Palin has the stones and the intellegence or the record of success to do it. Id like to see someone like John Bolton, Haley Barbour or Bobby Jindahl to be her VP.
