In INCEPTION an Extractor with his group of dream criminals break into a energy moguls mind in order to plant an idea in his head that becomes an overriding part of his personality. This unfortunately reminded me of US politics. Ideas are planted in the fringes of the countrys body politic that seep up level after level until they hit the 24 hour news cycle and become the overriding part of our political discourse. And even more unfortunate, the right is much better at political inception than the left.
This is how we end up with a huge national discussion about death panels or president Obamas birth certificate. Or even the current battle over the Cordoba House in lower manhattan. A local issue got pulled into the mainstream by Sarah Palins tweet and suddenly has become the national talking point. And now no one will shut up about it, theres anti-Islam backlash all over the country, and who knows how much further this insanity will go. (Full disclosure: I completely, 100% support the Cordoba House.)
So who is the Extractor? The person who plants the idea? No, Im not saying its Sarah Palin, though her twitter/facebook feed is definitely one of the higher levels of subconscious dreaming. Maybe Michele Bachmann? Id give that a maybe. Whoevers behind it understands the genius of inception - that in the end the idea seems like our own, whether were a politician, an activist or a guy watching TV drinking a beer.
So 9/11 was a "local issue"...
Yes, I’m amazed you even heard about it...
Shouldn’t Palin be ignored though? I mean, she’s a quitter, right? Everyone that has resigned from office went into obscurity. Why hasn’t Palin? She was supposed to just go broke over operatives shutting the state down, damnit and then cry in a corner somewhere.
Journ-o-list: "It kinda worked with Dan Quayle, and he was actually Vice President, why isn't it working on that b**ch from Alaska? Maybe we should just keep trying..."
Go away punk.
How awful for the left...they no longer control the national news cycle. They no longer get to decide what is out of bounds from discussion. They no longer can keep fellow citizens from having their say.
What a strange concept this is, for them...this thing known as freedom.
To 6 - Is that Jared Moshe? Bit of a pissant, isn’t he?
Oh clever wording!
- an offensive term for somebody who pays too much attention to small details
- an offensive term for somebody regarded as being of no importance, significance, or consequence
Yes, I’d say so.
Whichever it is, Sarah is living in their heads rent-free. The more the Progressive Left contorts to explain her (Jungian archetypes, inception) the more ridiculous they look.
