I think most taxpayers are overjoyed to help fund 52 yr old UAW retirees @ $3000/month and silver plated bennies, not to mention kick in $7500 bucks on each new Volt.

The entrenched belief that someone working in the public sector is entitled to retire at 65 years of age or younger and then enjoy a 20 year or longer holiday at the taxpayer's expense (not to mention double dipping at other government jobs) is absurd at best.

Incidentally, you're likely already aware of this but, the Chevy Volt gets just forty, count 'em, just 40 miles per charge and then has to be recharged overnight. At $42,000.00+, this car should be destined for the ash-heap of history.

actually after 40 miles the gas engine has to turn on to power the car and it can run 300+ additional miles on a tank of gasoline

the philosophy being that a 40 mile round trip commute is pretty typical but the gas engine is there as needed

it will take “cap and tax” forcing $5/gal fuels before edrive cars have much economics going for them
