With their election numbers looking grim, Democrats have returned to an old favorite: warning seniors that Republicans are going to take their Social Security away.
Yesterday Capital Hill received an e-mail press release from House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., celebrating the 75th anniversary of Social Security. It also darkly warned that:
In 1935, Republicans stood in the way of its creation. And in recent years, they’ve only renewed their efforts to undermine and privatize Social Security.

We’re 13.5 Trillion in debt, and the number is growing astronomicaly every month. We’re flat broke with no way in sight to pay this off. But we’re going to be able to fund a 35 trillion dollar SS obligation coming due in the next 20 years. Granny, if you believe that then you’ve already sunk into complete dementia and you won’t notice what happens to your social security anyway.
