Wisconsin Sen. Russ Feingold, once a Wisconsin progressive institution, is now two points behind leading GOP challenger Ron Johnson, according to a July 27 Rasmussen poll of likely voters. Unbelievable opportunities for potential pro-marriage pickups in once solid blue states!

Ron Johnson rocks!
How sweet it would be if Ron can beat Feingold.
Yes, we need to support Ron Johnson. Contributions can make a difference. Alvin Greene’s case was a fluke.
Whomever is in the Ron Johnson campaign - make sure you do some scenario planning for this sequence of events - Feingold is down 2 weeks out and he makes the call to Rahm Emmanuel and some devastating dirt is thrown late, quite late, in the campaign. Feingold gets a lot of credit (slightly undeserved) for being this paragon of virtue - but then again he’s never had a hard time defending his seat. This could bring out a new side of Feingold and Johnson better be prepared with rapid response for whatever strike is called in from/to a by then desperate White House. Do not be caught flat-footed late in the game.
Better get Biden back for Foolsgold—ASAP! If RJ wins I will stock up on cheese from Swissconsin as a tribute to those cheeseheads.
Given the current political realities, the GOP has a reasonable shot of winning every senate election this year—every single one.
I would also wager that the GOP is still playing by the old rules, marking some races off as “unwinnable,” conceeding the seat to the Democrat.
The GOP won Ted Kennedy’s seat in Mass., despite the fact that the GOP national party provided virtually no support. There isn’t a senate seat that is out of reach for the GOP this year.
Yea, we can’t win a “veto proof” majority by the numbers (they would still be 5-6 seats short, even if the GOP won every senate election), but I guran-damn-tee you that if the GOP did win every senate election they would have a working “Veto-Proof” majority in the senate.
23 Democratic senators will be up for re-election in 2012. If no Democrat senator in 2010 wins re-election, enough of the 2012/23 Democrats will join the GOP (in spirit at least) to allow the repeal of Obamacare via a veto override.
That is what always gets me. There are a lot of really good candidates out there even if races that are seen as largely winnable. Personally I think people should not wait for a race to become winnable. You get out there with money or time or just email lists and make this races winnable. I believe the Oregon race against Senator Ron Wyden should be more winnable. The only reason it isn’t more winnable is Jim Huffman lacks the money and name rec to make this a race. Wyden is just barely above 50% and has been sliding back and forth. A big push could send him sinking. The GOP candidate for Gov is running just barely ahead of the Democrat so it is pretty clear there is room to grow in the state wide race for Huffman if the local GOP on the ground get their act together. What Huffman needs is an endorsement and also he needs a base of money to educate voters on Wyden’s real record. There is some polling that suggests when voters are given information on Wyden’s voting record that Huffman leads substantially.

I totally agree. And you can come from behind and win.
Is the GOP going to contest either one of the NY seats? Gillibrand AND Schumer are both up (because Gillibrand was appointed, that will be an election for the last 2 years of Hillary's former seat).
Wow, no wonder old commie Russ has been quite lately, good news.
The problem is the national GOP seldom gets it act together. Look at what happened in MA. Scott Brown raised 12 million dollars overnight. The difference is that ever GOP/Conservative organization coordinated and became a social networking money raising juggernaut. Where is that now? I had Toomey, Rubio, and other conservatives Senate candidates sending out mailers to their email lists for Brown. Why isn’t that done more? Do it once a month for different candidates and harness the power of not just one campaign but all of them. There is a lot of laziness in the country club at GOP hq. They still like too much to smooze and drink cocktails and get their money at expensive venues.
I very early saw the opportunity of the Scott Brown win and sadly I’ve seen many opportunities fail not because of political realities but instead because of political laziness and backbiting. If we were to leverage the same zeal for candidates nationwide that was shown in the Scott Brown effort we’d win across the nation.
Right now there isn’t one state where the numbers aren’t good enough to elect a Republican Senator. Hawaii is probably the longest of the long shots and NY is next in line behind that then there is VT but even NY and VT are winnable and Len Briton is coming up with some masterful campaign ads but there again he needs money to run them.
The GOP could nationalize every senate race as a referendum on ObamaCare using the strategy I outlined above. Will they? I don’t know.
Maybe this is an instance where the grass-roots needs to nationlize it. Create an e-mail, make it go viral, and force the GOP national party to become part of the strategy.
I’ll have to think on how to do this, but I think it could be done.
BINGO: And then we take over the Republican Party starting in 2012 and beyond (and long term we force or take over the Democratic party as well).. no reason why WE CAN’T HAVE 2 CONSERVATIVE PARTIES rather than 2 LEFTIST ONES..!
