I'm not a lawyer, but isn't there a valid argument against this under the Constitution as illegal search and seizure of documents? The government has no right to demand this information and plenty of room to abuse it.

OBTW, remember about a decade back how doctors were questioning their patients about whether they owned guns, and putting “your attitude is noted” into the records of those who either protested or refused to reply?
